At Opencare, we believe that dentists shouldn't have to worry about managing their practice, which frees them up to prioritize world class patient care experiences. Our Finance Team Vision: In order to achieve our vision, we are looking for an experienced and dynamic leader to lead the Finance function, which includes FP&A, accounting, and financial reporting. We are looking for someone who has the ability to present the financial details to our CEO and senior leadership team, and engage in strategic discussions with our marketing, sales, product, and engineer leaders across the organization.

We believe data is the key to good decision making and visibility is critical for ownership. By ensuring all aspects of the business have both, we will be able to set aggressive goals, celebrate our successes, understand our misses, and pivot rapidly as needed. True partnership is therefore critical between Finance and all teams across the organization and as such, the Finance team will pride themselves on the breadth of their company wide understanding and teamwork when helping the entire company reach our goals while guiding and managing cash and profitability during this critical period and beyond.

As a Director, Finance at Opencare, you’ll be reporting to the CEO to: 

  • Lead financial modelling and forecasting company-wide to enable strategic decision making, financial planning, and optimal capital allocation
  • Manage ongoing budgeting and reporting, and together with our accounting team, ensure we are on target against our plan and provide insight and actionable recommendations for any deviations
  • Maintain detailed monthly cash flow forecasts and analyze variances to identify opportunities to optimize spend
  • Oversee accounting, vendor payments, revenue collection, and day-to-day cash flow
  • Provide strategic input to sales, marketing and operational leaders to guide resource allocation decisions that maximize ROI and drive growth
  • Act as a key member of the senior leadership team on financial performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors, banking and debt partners etc.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and any other legal requirements (at the state, province and country level)
  • Support executive team with internal and board reporting,  delivering insights that drive data-informed decision-making.

Some projects we are currently working on:

  • Enhancing our sales targeting to increase the ROI of new practices on Opencare
  • Identifying paths to improve profit alongside marketing leaders, and set appropriate spending targets to drive company profitability
  • Modelling city expansion to crystallize our growth playbook

What are some key attributes of a successful candidate? 

  • 5+ years of experience as a Sr. Manager or Director of Finance and an early to mid-size technology company
  • Deep knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and ability to work with external tax professionals to address compliance requirements
  • Strong full-cycle accounting experience, including managing a team responsible for monthly close processes
  • Proficiency  in complex modeling and analysis using limited information and extracting insights using tools such as Looker or Tableau
  • The ability to have candid conversations with Executives and Board Members to guide sound financial decisions for future growth 
  • Ability to effectively and succinctly communicate strategic decisions to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders 
  • A passion for growing, coaching, and mentoring others

What are some bonus attributes that will help you stand out? 

  • CPA or equivalent designation
  • Experience working with a marketplace or SaaS business model
  •  Familiarity with SRED claims and government tax incentives
  • Experience with sales modeling and reporting on sales performance
  • Experience with data analytics or knowledge of SQL
