Job description

OpenMetal is looking for a Lead Infrastructure Delivery and Logistics Engineer to define, standardize, implement and execute best practices across multiple data centers and regions to ensure scalability according to projected company growth.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular capacity planning for all product lines, ensuring sufficient inventory of all server types and hardware components needed for customers.
  • Oversee ordering and inventory cost control of the data centers with respect to hardware, cabling and components ensuring installed hardware is operational and fully functional. 
  • Assist customers in the planning, coordination, and migration of IaaS platform solutions. 
  • Deploy clouds with hardware modifications.
  • Ensure that RMAs, racking and unracking of servers, component additions and installations are done in a timely fashion. 
  • Partner with our network operations and system administration teams for regular maintenance, upgrades, replacements and deployments.
  • Create API based automated inventory tracking systems, monitoring, and alerting based on consumption.
  • Participate in planning and execution of data center migrations and expansions. 
  • Interface with remote techs to provide direction when not onsite.
  • Establish and maintain proper documentation of processes.

 

Qualifications Needed:

  • Ability to travel on short notice as needed for urgent Data Center issues. Current Data Centers are located in Los Angeles,CA; Ashburn, VA; and Amsterdam.
  • Demonstrated experience with 
    • various Linux environments 
    • implementation and troubleshooting of an enterprise data center environment 
    • exposure to network and storage operations 
    • increasing technology footprints
    • ensuring uptime and availability
    • working with network, security, and systems engineers to produce quality solutions. 
  • Experience in planning and managing data center critical components like, power supplies, cooling/heating, power distribution, spare inventory across a growing data center environment. 
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based virtualization technologies, network automation and access, load distribution, security and compliance
  • Advanced project management and organization skills with high attention to detail and process
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with an owner mindset. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $100,000+ and will be dependent on experience and skill set.
