Job description

This role requires New Zealand Citizenship with an active Secret Vetting (SV) Security Clearance. Candidates without citizenship or permanent residency need not apply.

About the role

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer role is responsible for installing and supporting developed systems software and firmware for customers, and customizing systems software. This role will involve operating Datacom’s technical infrastructure including corporate hardware and software as well as providing corporate systems for the Datacom Business. The Infrastructure and Systems Engineer is required to maintain physical hardware and/or physical or virtual operating system platforms and provide proactive and reactive support services to maintain the availability and reliability of the client environment and application stacks.

We are looking for two contractors to come onboard and contribute to an exciting project with one of our client accounts. Contractors with active Secret Vetting (SV) Security Clearance will only be considered.

What you’ll do

This role is responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining systems software and firmware for assigned projects, developing drivers for specialized software such as graphics and communications, and monitoring performance for all corporate platforms. They work to improve the performance of operating systems and firmware, maintain an automation-first mindset using tools like Ansible for daily server administration, and collaborate with hardware engineers, systems, and applications programmers to complete projects according to customer requirements and schedules. Additionally, they assist the sales team with pre-sales activities such as proposal preparation, systems demonstrations, and presentations, provide advice to customers on systems software and related applications design and development, and remedy problems while offering technical consultation to users in line with the established support model.

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role you’ll bring at least 5 years’ experience as a System Engineering with Windows and Linux infrastructure applications and Cloud Computing.

Your technical experience should include:

  • Previous experience developing and updating network/gateway solution designs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in configuring and managing Juniper network devices, troubleshooting complex network issues, and implementing scalable network solutions
  • Skilled in designing, deploying, and managing Palo Alto Networks security platforms

Your customer focus and communication skills will be a strength, along with an ability to develop and maintain productive internal and external relationships, partnerships and networks. We are keen to hear of your troubleshooting, problem-solving experience, your understanding of public cloud platforms and agile operations. Knowledge of Government legislation and policy regarding information and protection of information is desirable.
