Position Title: Labor Market Analyst  

Location: near Any Per Scholas campus

Reports To: VP, Research and Evaluation 

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Per Scholas is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Labor Market Analyst to join our Research and Evaluation team. In this pivotal role, you will analyze labor market data to uncover trends in the technology hiring landscape and the skills required for entry-level tech jobs. Your insights will directly inform product strategy, new market expansion, and our understanding of labor market shifts that impact our strategic goals, which ultimately leads to tech job attainment and economic mobility for people of color, women, and other underrepresented backgrounds. As our first hire with this specific skillset, you will lay the groundwork for robust data-driven decision-making, helping Per Scholas remain at the forefront of workforce development.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Labor Market Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze labor market data to identify trends in technology hiring, workforce demand, and emerging skills for entry- to mid-level roles, to inform product strategy, new market expansion, and our strategic direction.  
  • Programmatic Evaluation:  Apply labor market analysis and data to our programmatic evaluations to increase contextual understanding of outcomes and make suggestions on shifts in strategy and approach.  
  • Trend Monitoring: Track industry shifts and employment patterns, providing actionable insights to leadership and program teams.  
  • Reporting: Develop reports and dashboards to communicate key findings to internal stakeholders, ensuring data is accessible and relevant to decision-making.  
  • Strategic Insight: Collaborate with leadership to translate labor market data into actionable recommendations for product development and strategic initiatives.  
  • Market Expansion Support: Assess potential new markets for entry and identify opportunities based on labor market dynamics.  
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with program, innovation, and product teams to integrate labor market insights into curriculum development and programmatic evaluation.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO US:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Data Analytics, Business, Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in labor market analysis, economic research, or a similar role.  
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI) and statistical software (e.g., R, Python, or SPSS).  
  • Experience working with labor market data sources (e.g., BLS, O*NET, Burning Glass, Emsi, etc.).  
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in clear and actionable ways.  
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.  

            Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the technology sector and workforce development trends.  
  • Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.  
  • Knowledge of machine learning or advanced analytics techniques.

For this role specifically, the salary range is between $70,000year and $75,000/year, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.
