Job description

As a Paralegal specializing in US immigration law, you will support attorneys by gathering, organizing, and preparing various documents for immigration cases. Your role will involve regular interaction with attorneys, clients, and immigration agencies to collect relevant information for ongoing cases. You will be responsible for drafting and preparing legal documents, including petitions, affidavits, appeals, motions, and other immigration-related filings.


Your duties will also include conducting legal research to verify case facts, reviewing public records, and utilizing client-provided resources. Additionally, you will coordinate the submission of critical legal documents and immigration forms, ensuring deadlines are met.

Note: Candidates must be fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken. Only resumes in English will be considered. This application is open to individuals who permanently reside in any Latin American country.


Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in drafting, preparing, and reviewing immigration-related legal documents, including visa petitions, affidavits, appeals, motions, and other immigration filings.
  • Preparing and submitting immigration petitions and applications to relevant agencies.
  • Conducting legal research on immigration laws, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Managing client communication in both English and Spanish, addressing inquiries, and providing updates on case status.
  • Maintaining organized case files and ensuring accurate documentation for immigration cases.
  • Ensuring the timely submission of immigration paperwork to relevant agencies and meeting deadlines.
  • Preparing and reviewing immigration forms for various visa and immigration processes.
  • Supporting attorneys with administrative tasks related to immigration cases.
  • Providing updates to attorneys on case progress, including tracking visa deadlines and petitions.


Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in English and bilingual in Spanish (both written and spoken).
  • A law degree (or equivalent) from the candidate’s home country.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a paralegal in a US immigration law firm.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage documentation and reporting in both languages.
  • In-depth knowledge of US immigration procedures, visa types, immigration forms, and terminology (family-based, humanitarian, and employment-based immigration).
  • Strong investigative and research skills, with the ability to fact-check immigration case details.
  • Familiarity with immigration-specific legal databases and software.
  • Experience in preparing legal reports and case documentation related to immigration matters.
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in end-to-end case management, including document collection, form preparation, and client communication.
