ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Black Men Vote and Black Men Vote PAC (BMV) are seeking a bold and visionary Executive Director to lead the organizations in our work to maximize the political influence of Black male voters across the United States. The BMV mission is to locate, educate, and motivate Black men to consistently participate in the electoral process by voting in local, state, and federal elections.
Black Men Vote is a pioneering organization centered on empowering Black men to actively participate in the electoral process, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are addressed within the political arena. BMV focuses on direct voter contact, voter registration, and community organizing to achieve our goals.
Founded over four years ago, BMV spent millions in 2024 on its efforts to register, educate, and mobilize Black men in battleground states through a variety of communications, including social media, barbershop talks, radio, and canvassing efforts.
Black Men Vote is poised to take a leadership role in this moment of inflection and change in our politics.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The next Executive Director of Black Men Vote will be a bold leader and a tireless campaigner with a deep commitment to elevating the political influence of Black male voters.
The Executive Director will lead all aspects of the organization, including developing the organization’s goals and strategies to achieve them, leading the fundraising in partnership with the Board, implementing voter engagement tactics, and managing a small, talented team of staff and consultants.
Reporting to a committed and thoughtful Board of Directors, the Executive Director will work closely with founder and Board Chair.
The ideal candidate is a driven political organizer and strategic thinker, a confident fundraiser, and a leader who has the ability to galvanize people around a vision – and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to make that vision a reality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
- Refine and deepen the strategic vision for the organization to galvanize funders, allies, and supporters
- Raise the profile of BMV through thought leadership, strategic partnerships, and relationships
- Build the organizational infrastructure to support the strategic goals
Fundraising
- Lead BMV’s fundraising with overall responsibility for funding all programmatic initiatives, operations, and strategic goals
- Partner with the Board of Directors to achieve fundraising goals
- Develop and expand trusted relationships with current and potential funders
- Inspire confidence in BMV’s work and continue to expand a network of committed supporters
Organizational Development and Management
- Maintain, support, and grow a strong Board of Directors, building board relationships and engagement
- Build, manage, and support a dynamic team of staff and consultants to support organizational goals
- Develop and execute voter engagement programs that include voter registration, voter education, volunteer engagement and mobilization programs for local, state, and federal elections across the country
- Develop and monitor annual budgets, including a multiyear plan for growth of the organization
External Leadership and Communications
- Serve as a leading voice on Black men’s political participation with the media, partners in the movement, and elected officials
- Develop deep and trusted relationships with external stakeholders in strategic multi-organizational spaces and partnerships
- Collaborate with partners and allies in voter engagement campaigns and coalitions

CANDIDATE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
BMV recognizes that the next Executive Director could bring a wide variety of experiences and backgrounds to the role. We are seeking candidates with a compelling leadership background and who will bring a majority of the following to the role:
- 10+ years of campaign and organizational management experience, including electoral and issue advocacy experience
- Experience building successful relationships with funders
- Deep understanding of modern campaign tactics, with a focus on voter engagement programs, including voter registration, voter education, and mobilization
- Ability to navigate high-level politics and work effectively with a variety of stakeholders to negotiate, build consensus, and resolve conflicts
- Outstanding communications skills, both written and verbal, and excellent public speaking skills
- Staff management expertise, with a talent for empowering and supporting staff
- Experience working with and supporting an engaged Board of Directors
- Superb interpersonal skills with an extensive history of forging strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to develop bold, ambitious ideas and be able to communicate them powerfully in a variety of media outlets
- Experience utilizing data analytics and technology to track program performance, measure impact, and inform decision-making
SALARY AND LOCATION
The annual anticipated salary range for the role of the Executive Director is $180,000-$220,000; exact salary will be determined based on experience.
Strong preference for candidates who reside within an easily commutable distance to Washington, DC, with the ability to travel as needed.
