Job Title: Manager, Below the Wing Operational Support
Department: Airport Operations

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Airport Standards and Policies, the Manager of Below-the-Wing Operational Support plays a critical role within the Standards, Policy, and Quality Assurance teams. This position is responsible for ensuring comprehensive support for below-the-wing operations and leading the team to bridge the gap between Standards and "day-of" operations. The role involves feeding information and recommendations to the training group to guide the development of effective training materials.
Primary Job Functions:
- Operational Support – The Manager, BTW Operations is the subject matter expert (SME) for Flair’s below-the-wing operations. Working with operational and quality control teams, the incumbent ensures operational performance and leads efforts to drive improvements and efficiency across the department.
- Process and Procedure Improvement – The Manager will maintain continuous improvement of policies and processes, aligning them with industry best practices (e.g., IATA). This includes updating manuals, producing guidance materials, and supporting training developers. The Manager will ensure safe operations, improve compliance, and optimize BTW operations.
- Station Open/Close/Relaunch – The Manager will lead the opening, closing, and relaunching of Flair airports. This includes reviewing airport facilities, assessing service provider capabilities, and determining on-site support needs for new or re-opening stations.
- Safety Management and Safe Operations – The Manager will participate in Flair SMS processes and third-party safety programs, supporting investigations and corrective action development. The Manager will also oversee internal and third-party issues, ensuring adherence to standards and driving service excellence.
- New System and Process Development – The Manager will participate in the implementation of new projects, ensuring that the needs of BTW operations are represented and incorporated into new systems, practices, and technologies.
Secondary Job Functions:
- Meet with Airports stakeholders to review trends, strengths, and weaknesses, offering recommendations and championing completion of improvements.
- Build relationships with cross-departmental stakeholders to represent BTW operations.
- Perform base visits, ensuring compliance with SOPs and recommending necessary training or materials.
- Provide feedback on station performance and work with training teams to address trends.
- Lead and participate in recognition programs, promoting company culture and building strong relationships with third-party providers.
- Collaborate with third-party providers to streamline processes and systems.
- Assist in managing process changes to improve efficiency.
- Work with the Quality Assurance department to improve oversight processes for airports.
- Participate in safety management and quality assurance processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:

- Education:
- University or College Degree/Diploma in a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in an airport operational environment, with a focus on Below-the-Wing (BTW) operations.
- Minimum of one year of experience assisting or coordinating airport operational programs.
- Experience with a ULCC or LCC is considered an asset.
- Proven experience in a mentor or trainer role is a valuable asset.
- Experience leading or supporting continuous improvement initiatives, particularly in operational performance and efficiency.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate information to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Proven organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make timely and effective decisions.
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to represent BTW operations in cross-departmental working groups and contribute to developing operational strategies.
