General Key Account Manager - Scotland
The position is field based, requiring over 50% travel time.
As an Executive Territory Account Manager at Illumina, you will play a key role in achieving sales objectives by managing key accounts across Scotland, including NHS Scotland, leveraging your expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and genomics applications, you will drive strategic and tactical sales initiatives while delivering exceptional client value.
The involves developing and implementing territory-specific sales plans, managing complex sales cycles for capital equipment, consumables, and services, and continuously identifying new opportunities for growth. You will work closely with internal teams to address customer needs and provide tailored solutions. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, coupled with a customer-focused mindset, are essential for success in this role.

- Development of a territory and account-specific sales plan
- Develop high-value, long-term profitable customer accounts through relationship building sales techniques.
- Identify and manage high-caliber sales opportunities through professional screening processes and use of all available information resources.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of prospects including personnel and responsibilities, budgeting, internal politics, products and services, competition and market
- Execution of plan to meet assigned sales quotas
- Utilization and maintenance of CRM database
- Deliver technical/scientific seminars and presentations on Illumina products and their capabilities
- Demonstrate role and relevance of Illumina’s product portfolio and provide consultation to customers on same
- Demonstrate command of scientific knowledge to engage in collaborative sales process
- Partner cross-functionally across company to appropriately address the needs of customer base
- Engage customers in complex sales environment
- Successfully navigate and manage a multi-tiered sales process for both capital equipment, consumables, and services
- Engage in accurate forecasting and sales pipeline management activities
- Effectively prospect and generate new customer leads
- Manage existing and continuously work to expand customer base
- Develop and maintain strong customer connections at various levels in the organization
- Understanding of next generation sequencing and genotyping is the foundation of the position and the portfolio
- Support DSM strategically

- Knowledge of clinical and research applied genetics and genomics is required
- Considerable experience selling through KOLs
- Extensive experience working with NHS Scotland
- Considerable proven life science capital sales experience
- Experience in a capital sales strategic selling environment
- Demonstrated track record in lead generation and prospecting.
- Highly adaptable and independent.
- Strong desire to win business and establish long-term customer relationships.
- Previous demonstrated success with complex sales and within in multi-layered environment preferred
- Work remotely, out of a Home office, >50% travel required
