Job Posted: December 9, 2024

Location: Americas (North, Central and South America), EMEA

Hi there!

At Zapier, we're on a mission to supercharge productivity and efficiency for over 2.2 million businesses globally by providing seamless workflow automation. As pioneers in this space, we are driven by a commitment to making work more effective and interconnected.

We are seeking a forward-thinking Data Warehouse Engineer to join our influential Core Go-to-Market (GTM) Data team. In this role, your expertise will be instrumental in advancing our data-driven capabilities, as you design and implement innovative data solutions. Your efforts will empower teams across advertising, marketing, content, email, support, and RevOps to unlock smarter, faster decisions. You’ll play a crucial role in synchronizing and optimizing our data architecture across multiple GTM systems, ensuring the right data is at the fingertips of those who drive our strategic insights and launch our GTM initiatives.

Join forces with cross-functional teams and apply your skills to reshape our data sync architecture. Your contributions will not only foster innovation and efficiency but also amplify Zapier’s transformative effect on businesses worldwide.

If you’re ready to harness your data warehouse engineering prowess to spearhead transformative changes and elevate business decision-making, we’d love to hear from you. Join us at Zapier and become an integral part of a movement that’s redefining how the world works—one automated task at a time!

About You
  • You are a skilled written communicator. Zapier is a 100% remote team and writing is our primary means of communication. You can communicate about technical topics without unnecessary jargon. You translate unfamiliar data modeling concepts into approachable ones to team mates and stakeholders with less experience working with data. And you have a history of contributing to written documentation to elevate your peers with what you’ve learned.

  • You have several years of experience. You are a skilled Data Warehouse Engineer with several years of in-seat experience. We’re looking for a candidate who can self-organize and who can help us identify the most valuable areas to contribute based upon business needs. After you have onboarded, we hope that you can learn from others and teach in equal measure thanks to your previous experience.

  • You have experience in SQL and data modeling. You’ve written complex SQL queries for the purposes of data warehouse modeling and have a nuanced appreciation for when and where traditional approaches work and when they don’t. You've designed tables and ETL pipelines with an eye towards ease of use by the end consumer, high performance, and scalability. You've documented schemas and created data dictionaries.

  • You have experience getting up to speed quickly on a variety of business domains and systems. You’ve worked with or are familiar with working with data assets that are used by multiple business areas and take ownership over filling in any knowledge gaps.

  • You strive to learn about business and product goals so you can design data models that empower analysis and reporting. You value partnering with your Data Science colleagues to ensure your efforts align with data objectives.

  • You understand that perfect is the enemy of the good, and default to action by shipping MVP code and iterating as needed to get towards better solutions.  You don’t let stakeholder pressure to move fast deter you from maintaining a high level of quality in your work.

  • You have developed innovative solutions and influenced standards that support team goals by proposing improvements to cross-team processes and driving collaborative work to implement them.

Things You’ll Do
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that efficiently ingest and transform data from various upstream databases and APIs into our data warehouse. You'll be working with a modern tech stack including Databricks, dbt, Airflow, Kafka, Hightouch, and custom Python scripts to ensure data is accurate, timely, and accessible.

  • Design and enhance data models, focusing on the creation and expansion of slowly changing dimensions and fact tables. Your work will make sure our data architecture supports scalable and high-performance analytics.

  • Develop comprehensive reports and interactive dashboards using industry-leading data visualization tools like Looker and Amplitude. These models will empower our stakeholders to get actionable insights and drive data-informed decisions.

  • Partner with stakeholders across Zapier to understand their analytic needs and design self-service analytics solutions. Your role includes providing guidance and support to improve their data-driven decision-making.

  • Play a critical role in the continuous improvement of our Go-To-Market (GTM) data models. Your ideas will help shape the design and effectiveness of our data structures, making sure they meet business needs and technology changes.

How to Apply

At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.

Education is not a requirement for our roles; however, if you receive an offer, you will need to include your most recent educational experience as part of our background check process.

After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!

Zapier is an equal-opportunity employer and we're excited to work with talented and empathetic people of all identities. Zapier does not discriminate based on someone's identity in any aspect of hiring or employment as required by law and in line with our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity. Our code of conduct provides a beacon for the kind of company we strive to be, and we celebrate our differences because those differences are what allow us to make a product that serves a global user base. Zapier will consider all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, consistent with applicable laws.

Zapier is committed to inclusion. As part of this commitment, Zapier welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities and will work to provide reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact jobs@zapier.com

Application Deadline:

The anticipated application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later, or if the position is filled.

Even though we’re an all-remote company, we still need to be thoughtful about where we have Zapiens working. Check out this resource for a list of countries where we currently cannot have Zapiens permanently working.
