Join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of others! We are looking for a Accounts Payable Associate for our Accounting team.

This is a hybrid or remote role with some travel to our main office in New Hyde Park, NY.

Position Overview:

As a highly skilled specialist the Senior Accounts Payable Specialist will complete moderate to complex AP-related tasks under limited supervisionThis role will process invoices ensuring accurate data verification and adherence to approval workflows. This will include participating in AP inbox activities, preparing invoices for payment review, maintaining vendor relationships and coordinating work for other A/P team members.  The position also contributes to month-end close processes, process improvement, compliance with accounting policies, and reporting on AP metrics. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Invoice Processing: Coordinate and perform the end-to-end management of invoice processing, ensuring accuracy in data verification, general ledger (GL) and dimension categorization, and adherence to the approval workflow.  
  • AP Inbox Management: Collaborate closely with other AP Associates to ensure the timely and accurate handling of all activities within the Accounts Payable (AP) inbox and related databases, maintaining high standards of efficiency and precision. 
  • Payment Review Preparation: Facilitate the accurate and timely preparation of invoices for payment review, ensuring compliance with established payment terms and company policies. 
  • Vendor Management: Cultivate and sustain strong vendor relationships, addressing and resolving issues or discrepancies professionally and promptly. Maintain consistent and professional communication with vendors. 
  • Cash Management:Monitor bank account balances to ensure sufficiency of funds for issued payments (taking into account other funds uses), coordinate positive pay processes, and maintain proactive communication with senior accounting leadership regarding the company's current cash position. 
  • Month-End Close: Contribute to the month-end close process by supporting Controllers group members in their AP related duties including reconciling the accounts payable sub-ledger with the general ledger and preparing necessary accruals. 
  • Process Improvement: Regularly assess and refine AP processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for enhancements to optimize workflows and boost efficiency. 
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements related to accounts payable. Engage in quarterly and annual compliance activities, including 1099 reporting. 
  • Reporting: Generate and present regular reports on AP metrics, such as aging reports, general ledger details, and vendor performance analysis. 

Ideal Candidates Will Possess: 

  • 5+ years of experience in an AP or similar Accounting role required.   
  • AP module familiarity in Sage Intacct or similar ERP preferred. Experience with Stampli or similar external AP subledger preferred. 
  • Associate degree preferred, though relevant work experience is highly valued. 
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding accounts payable processes and procedures and general knowledge of accounting principles and practices. 
  • Technical Skills: Experience with cloud accounting systems such as Sage Intacct or similar ERPs or other cloud-based accounting solutions, preferred. 
  • Training & Supervision:   Explains technical/SME information within team.  
  • Self-Directed: Taking initiative to ensure the team is working toward the same goals in a supportive manner.  
  • Attention to Detail: Extreme accuracy and attention to detail required, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. 
  • Communication Skills: Strong email and telephone communication skills, with the capability to collaborate effectively across departments and interact professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders. 
  • Analytical Skills: Analytical mindset with robust problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous improvement. 
  • Business Acumen: Uses knowledge of how the team integrates with others to accomplish the team objectives. Showing motivation and commitment to advance in role or beyond, demonstrating consistent attendance and modelling core values consistently.

At FreedomCare, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides our employees with the opportunity to professionally grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $24.00 and $31.00 an hour at the commencement of your first year of employment. Compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors which may include, but are not limited to: skill set, years of relevant experience, education, location, and licensure/certifications.
