Job description

Ready to be a Titan?

ServiceTitan is seeking an exceptional Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, R&D. ServiceTitan is one of the fastest growing tech startups in Southern California, backed by the best VC firms in the SaaS space, and recently ranked #6 on The Cloud 100. This position will report to the Director, R&D FP&A and will enjoy a high level of executive visibility and impact to our rapidly-growing startup.

The ideal candidate will excel in partnering with the business to effectively manage R&D headcount, understand key drivers impacting infrastructure spend and develop robust reporting and forecasting. This role will also support the R&D capitalization process, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting and forecasting of capitalized expenses.

We value strategic and analytical insight, at all levels of the organization, and will depend on your work to achieve the extraordinary! You will be empowered to challenge the status quo, dream big and have a massive impact.

What You'll Do:

  • Infrastructure Spend & Driver-Based Modeling: Work closely with Engineering and Infrastructure teams to understand key drivers of infrastructure costs (e.g., cloud services like Azure) and build robust driver-based forecasting models. Collaborate with business partners to define KPIs that optimize spend efficiency and forecast accuracy.

  • R&D Capitalization Process: Partner with Accounting and Engineering teams to improve processes for estimating and forecasting capitalized R&D expenses. Support implementation of scalable solutions and ensure accurate tracking of costs.

  • Professional Services Spend: Collaborate with the Professional Services team to analyze contractor spend, develop actionable reporting, and work with business partners to identify efficiencies.

  • Forecasting Accuracy: Develop and maintain financial models with a high level of precision to ensure alignment with revenue and operational goals, critical for a public company environment.

  • Partner with Business Teams: Establish guardrails for managing spend, providing clear insights into variances and actionable commentary against the annual operating plan (AOP) and forecasts.

  • Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance headcount planning, automate reporting, and streamline financial forecasting processes across R&D.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a trusted partner to stakeholders, maintaining ongoing dialogue with business partners to ensure alignment and transparency on financial drivers and forecasts.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience: 5+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, management consulting, or public accounting, with a focus on supporting R&D, Product, or Engineering teams.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with strong academic performance; MBA preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and tools such as Excel and Google Sheets, with a focus on infrastructure costs and product investment analysis. Experience with financial planning systems like Adaptive Planning and ERP systems such as Workday HCM and Financials.

  • Analytical Expertise: Highly analytical with a demonstrated ability to build detailed financial models and interpret data to support decision-making.

  • Strategic Insight: A blend of corporate FP&A knowledge and the ability to think strategically about future-state processes.

  • Collaborative Approach: Exceptional communication skills to work effectively across teams, build consensus, and deliver actionable insights to senior leaders.

  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a flat organizational structure, demonstrating initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to excellence.
