Summary:

 

Responsible for managing all aspects of project lifecycles. Liaise with plant and GTS / MTS teams to coordinate and achieve acceptable technical solutions. Direct and plan activities using own initiative to achieve overall project objectives.


What you'll be contributing:

 

  • Promote and follow all aspects of safety guidelines (CRH safety 16 live Savings Rules) making sure all the designs are developed in accordance with the safety standard required, and participate in meetings as required. 
  • Has a proven knowledge of the cement industry and practice. Knows about process, equipment and layout, and engineering standards.
  • Create and foster a nurturing environment to allow for the growth and development of the Engineering Managers in the team in all disciplines (Civil, Mechanical, E&I). Work with them to identify knowledge and skill gaps and create training plans as needed.
  • Responsible for developing the design and the engineering from the concept phase to the feasibility phase and supporting the execution of the projects.
  • Direct and aid the Preparation of the technical tender documents, including detailed scopes, and acceptance criteria for procurement of equipment, services of Engineering consultants, and construction contractors taking into account prevailing codes, standards, and project requirements. Work with the Engineering Managers, CRH subject matter experts, and site engineering personnel and ensure that assigned contractors for projects conform to the design.
  • Work along with the Project Manager, and Procurement Manager to manage all the technical RFI during the tender process and the execution
  • Capable of developing layout and SOW for projects in the concept and feasibility phases.
  • Prepare and update project cost estimates and assist management teams with the preparation of CX application documents
  • Manage engineering companies during the design phase controlling timing, cost, and quality to ensure that all the scope of work is delivered per the contract obligations.
  • Conduct regular engineering status update meetings. Cultivate relationships with Engineering contractors and advise on how different contractors can support AGC better and fit within the overall portfolio.
  • Work closely with the team to develop project schedules related to the engineering aspects and manage the construction engineering RFI process coming from the contractors.
  • Analyse and compare tender proposals and make a proper technical tabulation and prepare the recommendations and ranking on the selection of suppliers based on technical merit. Coach or assist the Engineering Managers throughout this process and allow them to take the lead in their respective projects.
  • Work with the procurement department in the negotiation of the technical aspects of the contracts up to the contract signature with the chosen equipment supplier, contractor, or Engineering company.
  • Coordinate the work of other engineering resources that might be assigned to the program.
  • Participate in the monthly project progress meeting and CAPEX team coordination meeting.
  • Use the AGC – CRH project management tools.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

To succeed in this position, you will need: 

 

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. in English required. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, mining, or related discipline.
  • Other EIT (Preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a lead technical role in the mining, and cement industry. 
  • Cement process knowledge
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects.  
  • Travel up to 75%
