Job description

Title: Powder and BikeMag Social Media Manager (Contract)

Employment Type: Contract (40 hrs/week)

Location: Remote - USA

Powder.com and BikeMag.com are seeking an organized and enthusiastic Social Media Manager to handle the management and daily maintenance of the sites' social media platforms. This role involves scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and analyzing social media performance to assist the larger content strategy. The Social Media Manager will work closely with the editorial teams to help run a cohesive and engaging social media presence that aligns with our brand values and goals. Must be an avid skier and mountain biker to be considered.

The Arena Group’s expected hourly rate for this position is $25 USD per hour.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the editorial teams for both Powder.com and BikeMag.com to build and maintain a content calendar for all major social media platforms, ensuring a consistent and timely publication schedule. 

  • Post and update content across platforms, optimizing each post based on platform-specific best practices.

  • Monitor social media comments and messages, responding appropriately to engage with the audience and foster a positive community atmosphere. 

  • Ideate and implement strategies to increase follower interaction and satisfaction. 

  • Foster and manage an engaged online community, responding to comments and messages to build a loyal audience. 

  • Implement community-building initiatives to enhance follower interaction and satisfaction.

  • Regularly analyze social media metrics to assess the performance of content and strategies, using insights to propose adjustments.

  • Identify trends and opportunities within the social media landscape to keep both Powder and BikeMag at the forefront of social engagement. 

  • Be comfortable scripting, hosting, filming, and editing short form video. 

  • Identify and collaborate with influencers and brand ambassadors to expand Men’s Journal’s reach. 

  • Manage influencer relationships and coordinate content partnerships. 

  • Work with the content production team to generate visually appealing and engaging social media content.

  • Source and publish approved UGC related to the brand. 

  • Assist in creating multimedia content, including videos, graphics, and interactive posts.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 2-3 years minimum of experience in social media management and growth

  • Solid knowledge of both the skiing and mountain biking industries, athletes and trends

  • Demonstrated ability to create video and graphics for social media 

  • Working knowledge of Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, and After Effects.

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.

  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies.

  • Experience with social media management tools and analytics platforms.

  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail and design.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a creative team and external partners.

  • Familiarity with non-scripted, editorial, and journalistic content production.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality content.
