ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Actuarial Consultant will play a pivotal role within our expanding national actuarial team, reporting directly to the National Director of Underwriting and Actuarial Services. This individual will oversee a portfolio of Employee Benefits (EB) clients and lead financial reporting initiatives, offering critical support to our national and regional consulting teams.
The Senior Actuarial Consultant will also provide mentorship to junior team members and may eventually assume people management responsibilities. This role requires a hands-on approach to both routine and ad hoc analyses, leveraging data from our warehouse and other systems to meet client needs and support strategic national initiatives.
In this collaborative role, the Senior Actuarial Consultant will work closely with specialty practices such as Clinical and Pharmacy teams, as well as development teams, to drive success across the organization. They will act as a valuable resource for regional financial consulting teams, helping ensure exceptional service and expert guidance.

- Lead actuarial analysis and financial consulting for EB clients, overseeing experience reports, budget rate setting, and reserving
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables for clients
- Partner with the National Director to offer actuarial direction and strategic guidance, supporting the financial reporting needs enterprise-wide, including the development of financial templates, calculators, and models
- Assist with updating, building and reviewing tools and templates as needed
- Work on ad hoc projects requiring data analysis within Excel and HUB’s data warehouse
- Collaborate with Clinical, Pharmacy, and Health & Performance teams on various cost containment analyses and strategies
- Analyze benefits plans, funding mechanisms and/or vendor partners to help achieve clients’ goals
- Act as a strategic advisor/SME to clients and/or internal stakeholders as it relates to actuarial and financial consulting needs
- Represent HUB to prospective and current clients
- Understand our competition; benchmark against strengths & weaknesses to help improve our business
- Assist with rollout/training of national tools and resources
- Support junior colleague development through peer review and mentorship
- May manage a small team. Support employees’ professional growth through regular feedback, career development, and ongoing training
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Active Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) certification
- Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and able to sign actuarial reserves
- 10+ years of relevant experience, with extensive history in employee benefits consulting
- Experience with clients ranging from mid-market, upper mid-market, and jumbo preferred
- Knowledge of various markets across the US preferred
- Exposure to various industries, including education, healthcare and public-sector preferred
- Proficiency with Excel, VBA, Power Query, Power BI, SQL, and/or other technical experience
- Experience with self-funded clients and comfortable projecting budgets, setting reserves, and negotiating renewals
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients and internal stakeholders
- Experience leading client teams and/or projects
- Passion for leading and developing others. Experience managing team preferred
- Comfortable in data warehouse running standard and ad hoc reports
- Obtain Life & Health Insurance license within first 3 months of employment with HUB

Disclosure required under applicable municipal regulations in NY and NJ, as well as the law in Colorado: The expected salary range for this position is $140K to $200K and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
