Job description

Are you passionate about pedagogy? Are you looking to impact the learning experience of thousands of undergraduate students?

Top Hat is reimagining how course materials are developed to meet the needs of today’s Higher Ed students: written from the ground up to be accessible, inclusive, interactive, engaging, multimodal, and affordable! We’re looking for passionate and innovative individuals to guide the creation of dynamic course materials designed to meet key teaching and learning challenges for instructors in higher education.

As a Top Hat Portfolio Manager on our Learning Solutions team, you will be responsible for helping manage our Social Sciences portfolio, as well as working with individual customers to create custom courseware (textbooks + ancillary materials that foster active learning before, during and after class) specifically tailored to their needs. You’ll seek to deeply understand the challenges faced by instructors in your discipline, come up with creative pedagogical solutions leveraging the Top Hat platform, and work alongside the other teams within Learning Solutions as we bring those ideas to life to positively impact student learning and ultimately drive value for our customers and growth for Top Hat.

You will:
  • Make data-driven, strategic decisions around opportunities and where to invest our efforts for maximum impact.

  • Set priorities, and manage deadlines and resources effectively.

  • Work with individual customers to understand their specific needs, then work with authors to develop innovative solutions to those problems.

  • Keep best practices in inclusive pedagogy, accessibility and interactivity at the forefront of your projects.

  • Build a network of subject matter experts, authors and innovative thinkers in your portfolio discipline.

  • Perform market research to understand unique teaching and learning challenges for course areas.

  • Collaborate and work closely with internal stakeholders including the broader Learning Solutions team as well as individuals from our Marketing, Revenue and Product teams.

You are:
  • Someone who loves and understands the education space. You’re excited to tackle teaching and learning challenges!

  • Someone who has previous experience developing course materials in Top Hat or higher education publishing.

  • Someone who is agile and can pivot quickly based on the needs of a project, the market, or the organization.

  • Customer-centric; you care about helping professors and students.

  • Excited to grow your existing network of educators, or build one from the ground up. You can quickly build strong relationships.

  • An excellent communicator who can understand and synthesize different viewpoints, think on your feet in customer conversations and have tough conversations when required.

  • A team player with a collaborative attitude to problem-solving and tackling challenges. You like being part of a dedicated, hard-working team.

  • Someone who takes initiative and appreciates owning your work, but is also comfortable guiding others in accomplishing work objectives to achieve portfolio goals.

  • Someone who delivers results. You have a track record of transforming strategy into executable action plans, which you successfully achieved.

  • Someone who possesses excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Able to perform some qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and are adept at making data-driven decisions.

  • Someone who can write a stellar cover letter and include it with your application. Applicants without cover letters will not be considered.
