Job Description

We are seeking a NPI Engineer to join our team. As an NPI Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the introduction of new products into the manufacturing and production process for the Ciena Platforms portfolio. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient and effective manufacturing, assembly, and delivery of high-quality products. This is a senior-level position that requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and a deep understanding of Ciena’s product hardware and software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide input and guidance to product development teams on design for manufacturability, testability, and scalability.
  • Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Develop and execute test plans to verify and validate the functionality and performance of new products.
  • Lead cross-functional teams involved in the NPI process, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including assembly instructions, manufacturing guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Lead efforts to ensure that technical issues are resolved quickly, avoiding delays.
  • Provide training to production teams on new processes, equipment, and tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the NPI process and reduce time-to-market for new products
  • Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with key suppliers and cross functional team members. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • + years of experience in NPI engineering, LCM, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly techniques, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Team player, organized, self-motivated, and capable of independent work
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel.

The annual pay range for this position is $88,600 - $141,500 CAD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
