Overview:
Senior Product Designer
IDC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Product Designer to lead the development and management of our digital products. This role will report to the Vice President of User Experience and Design.

We seek a strong lead product thinker, a proficient individual contributor, and someone passionate about designing human-centered products to guide the discovery, exploration, building, and evaluation of IDC's digital experiences.
Our lead will ensure the team works cross-functionally with PM and Engineering to deliver high-quality work and meet deadlines. As a leader, your time will be split between leading projects, mentoring team members, and advocating design thinking in all directions—expertise overseeing every project aspect and maximizing your design team's potential.
Lead agile, cross-functional project teams of Designers, Engineers, Product Managers, Stakeholders, and Legal to deliver assigned design projects promptly and efficiently, ensuring user and business needs are met. Be a team player.
Provide input and strategic direction into overall design decisions and complete the tactical design work associated with assigned projects by delivering user flows, wireframes, prototypes, presentations, and user interface elements, and managing our Design System.
Be a natural problem solver with the ability to present compelling arguments supporting a vision. Synthesize numerous points of view into tangible solutions, all while successfully combining usability, accessibility, desirability, and inclusiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the core agile team throughout the product and development lifecycle to ensure product vision is achieved and delivered.
- Participate in the end-to-end process from research and ideation to product launch.
- Create prototypes in Figma, wireframes, sketches, journey maps, and other digital tools to test and improve product experiences.
- Collaborate with the agile team on defining the experience and be able to communicate validated concepts to stakeholders.
- Use UX research to challenge and validate design decisions.
- Demonstrate strong collaboration and self-management skills.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and can present concepts to the broader team.
- Drive overall strategy and decision-making about product direction.
- Own feature designs across responsive web and native mobile experiences.
- Understand the use of analytics and their impact on the business.
- Capable of looking at the big picture and diving into details.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Human Factors, or equivalent/relevant work experience.
- 10+ years of professional experience in end-to-end product design.
- 8+ years of interaction design experience with knowledge to define users' needs and ability to manage deadlines and collaborate across stakeholders and agile teams.
- 8+ years of visual design experience with proficiency in typography, color, layout, iconography, desktop, responsive web, mobile UI, and aesthetic sense, and how these elements impact product function.
- Demonstrate product thinking and strong design rationale through navigation, user flows, interaction design, and information architecture.
- 8+ years of experience in goal definition, identifying opportunities, and making decisions based on user impact.
- Proven ability in representing work to a broader product team and other leaders, clearly and succinctly articulating goals and concepts.
- Proven ability to lead complex design projects with minimal supervision, including requirements gathering, stakeholder management, leading workshops and research activities, developing and managing project timelines, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality project deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across the organization.
- Highly motivated with excellent follow-through and problem-solving skills.
- A passion for accessible and inclusive design.
- Expert experience with Figma.
- A portfolio is required to demonstrate qualifications.
- Strong English communication skills in both verbal and written form.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expert-level experience working with and contributing to a design system.
- Experience leading both discovery and usability research sessions and synthesizing them into actionable direction.
- Demonstrated experience presenting work in a thoughtful manner to engage stakeholders and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead workshops with groups of participants around design thinking activities.
- Demonstrated ability to frequently be self-reflective of one’s process and look to validate new tools and methods.
- Demonstrated systems thinking and approach in relation to product architecture.
- Keen eye for visual and graphic design and a confident handling of gestalt principles as they apply to interface design.
- Understanding of the principles of product strategy as applicable to a software system in an Agile environment.
- Familiarity with or previous support of accessibility best practices and compliance.
- Comfort delivering work within the structure of an agile framework to solve design challenges as well as delivering to meet design needs outside the product team workflow.
- Support your designs with strong rationale, research, and effective communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across the organization.
