Position Title: Clinical Educator - Remote

Department: Clinical/Administration - EHN Outpatient Services

Job Description

Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Clinical Educator plays a pivotal role in the professional development of clinicians and students within an Outpatient virtual care setting. The Clinical Educator will design, implement, and oversee educational programs to enhance clinical competency and ensure high-quality care in mental health and addictions services in a virtual environment. This role includes teaching, mentoring, and supporting clinicians and students while ensuring alignment with evidence-informed practices and organizational goals. This role is instrumental in ensuring that clinical teams are supported with robust systems, up-to-date knowledge, and the tools needed to deliver exceptional care

Education, Program Development and Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director to identify educational needs and develop curricula to address gaps in knowledge or skills.
  • Ensure training content reflects evidenced informed care, clinical guidelines, and organizational policies.
  • Develop and deliver educational content, workshops, and training sessions, tailored to the needs of clinicians.
  • Provide one-on-one and group mentoring to new clinicians fostering skill development and professional growth.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and adjust content or methods to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
  • Train and mentor other mental health professionals in psychotherapy techniques and best practices.
  • Support professional development by providing guidance on case formulation, treatment planning, and ethical practice.
  • Support clinicians in applying evidence-based practices and navigating complex cases across specialty programs; Substance Use Disorder (SUD), Mood and Anxiety (MAP), Workplace Trauma (WPT), and Aftercare (AC).
  • Knowledge of evidence-informed practices and current trends in mental health and addictions care.
  • Strong teaching, mentorship, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex clinical concepts into practical learning experiences.
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Knowledgeable of principles of adult learning.

Quality Improvement, Policy & Change Management

  • Lead the development, implementation, and staff training on new clinical policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across teams.
  • Ensure clinical policies and procedures are developed, maintained, and effectively implemented to support high-quality decision-making and client care.
  • Leverage outcome measurement practices to assess program effectiveness and drive adjustments or enhancements to meet client and organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Clinical Managers to review clinical documentation, audit reporting processes, and ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Partner with the Operations team to identify opportunities for quality improvement, utilizing change management strategies to introduce and embed new processes effectively within the organization.

Student Placement

  • Coordinate clinical placements and acts as a liaison with Academic Institutions for student placement
  • Leads student placement activities
  • Provide guidance and supervision to students during clinical placements, ensuring adherence to ethical and professional standards.
  • Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback on clinical performance.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a regulated health profession required (e.g., Registered Social Worker, Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Occupational Therapist).
  • Minimum three to five years of clinical experience in mental health and addiction with demonstrated teaching or mentorship experience.
  • Registered (in good standing) with a regulatory college in any province where a regulatory body exists.
  • Proficient in virtual care platforms and clinical systems such as Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), SharePoint, and related tools.
  • Exemplary self-motivation, and the ability to work successfully, both independently and in team settings.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; working within a collaborative and diverse inter-disciplinary team.
  • Crisis training and/or de-escalation training considered a strong asset.
  • Expertise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Seeking Safety, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Excellent Computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office suite, TEAMS, staffing and workload applications.
  • Experience working in a virtual setting is considered an asset.
  • Able to provide Clinical supervision to Qualifying Psychotherapists in accordance with CRPO supervision standards is considered an asset.
