Summary of Job Duties:
The Research Associate will conduct cutting-edge research that includes biochemical analysis, molecular biology, cell culturing, drug design, and omics techniques. Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Associate will independently perform studies to advance the goals of the sponsored research projects. This position will perform experiments, analyze data compile results, and monitor quality control processes to ensure research integrity. The Research Associate will also communicate summaries of experimental results, maintain laboratory equipment, and order supplies and reagents for the general use of all members of the laboratory.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or related field plus five (5) years of research experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of scientific approaches and methodologies.
Expertise with several of the following techniques: cell culture, cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases, omics assays, flow cytometry, Western blot, ELISA assays, histology and IHC, spectrophotometry, and RT-PCR.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Ability to design, organize, and coordinate scientific research projects.

Responsibilities:
Develop and execute complex research methodologies and procedures.
Perform experiments under the direction of the PI, using biochemical, molecular biological, and histological techniques.
Manage analytical tools, including maintaining equipment.
Perform/supervise repairs, order supplies, negotiate with vendors, track purchase orders, and update computer hardware and software.
Manage data entry by staff, and activities surrounding database, data collection, and data entry and data management.
Maintain laboratory compliance with animal, biological, chemical, and radiation regulations.
Participate in and assist with the organization of meetings with PIs and research staff to evaluate/interpret the validity of experimental data.
Performs other duties as assigned.
