Position Highlights:
As a Security IS Solutions Leader in ICBC’s Security & Networking department you will drive security solutions and play a pivotal role in evolving our security program and roadmap. You will take a proactive leadership role in addressing emerging threats and identifying gaps in our security posture, while leading the adoption of advanced security technologies and controls.
You will take on an essential leadership role:
- Providing technical security leadership, direction, and guidance to teams delivering corporate systems and business solutions .
- Providing strategic leadership on security controls, solutions, and technologies to continuously enhance our security program and protect both on-premises and cloud systems and data .
- Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure business technology decisions align with security policies and standards .
- Creating or enhancing security architecture decisions, solution architectures, and solution designs .
- Leading the evaluation, design, and implementation of security technologies and services ensuring robust, scalable, and effective security in our hybrid, multi-cloud environment .
- Promoting the security program across the enterprise, building relationships and ensuring compliance with security standards .
- Communicating complex security concepts clearly at all organizational levels, influencing outcomes, and ensuring alignment with security best practices, frameworks, policies and standards.
- Mentoring junior staff to strengthen their security knowledge and expertise in security practices, tools, and technologies
You are committed to continuous learning and your deep and evolving knowledge of best practices, emerging trends and changes in the cybersecurity space will play a key part in your success in this role.
Position Requirements:
To make an immediate contribution, you will bring extensive security domain knowledge and:
- Proven expertise and experience in IT Security principles and standards, systems and tools, and trends and best practices .
- Experience in a wide range of security practices and solutions including identity and access management, endpoint security, network security, vulnerability management, security monitoring, incident handling, public key infrastructure, cloud security, and emerging concepts like SASE and zero trust .
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships and establish rapport across diverse teams and stakeholders .
- Proven decision-making abilities and a strong track record of evaluating risks and benefits of potential options and assessing their impact on both security and organizational goals .
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and negotiate productive, effective outcomes and solutions.
- Hands on experience authoring security architecture decisions and solution design documents, with a proven ability to socialize them with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and gain buy-in .
- Excellent planning, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills .
- Strong understanding of the methodologies, concepts, standards, and practices of project and change management
These requirements are typically obtained through an undergraduate degree in a related field and several years of progressive experience in information security, complemented by professional security certifications such as CISSP or CCSP.

- ICBC provides comprehensive and flexible benefit coverage to all eligible employees including a defined benefit pension plan.

Work arrangements defined:
- Resident – you will work at your primary in-office headquarters on all scheduled work days.
- Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
- Hybrid 10 – you will work a minimum of 10 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically one week in/one week out or up to 3 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
- Mobile – you will work a significant amount of time in the field, in addition to working from an office and optionally working remotely within British Columbia.
