Job description
We are currently seeking a student assistant to support activities in flagship projects within our Climate Policy Team. The position is based in Berlin but working remotely is also possible. In this role you will be supporting the different project teams in a number of tasks focussed on data collection, research and analysis of countries’ mitigation policies the transport sector. 
 
Your Responsibilities
Support the progress and development of projects in the Climate Policy Team, including projects like the 1.5C National Pathway Explorer through various tasks, for example:
  • Supporting the collection and structuring relating to transport sector related data needed to track and analyse mitigation and investment policies.
  • Supporting the development of new methodologies to quantify the investment needs to decarbonise the transport sector.
  • Support the workflows to downscale Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs) transport sector pathways to country level.
  • Supporting functions like cross-checking data, proofreading and checking that graphs and content are correct.
  • Helping organise project meetings, including preparing draft agendas, taking notes and following up on actions points afterwards.
  • Helping prepare materials and presentations for meetings with external partner organisations.
Your profile
You will ideally have the following qualifications and skills:
  • Undertaking or completed a bachelor’s degree in studies related to data analysis, energy systems, transport sector, engineering or natural sciences with a quantitative focus.
  • Good command of Word and Excel.  Knowledge of Python programming language would be an advantage.
  • Strong quantitative skills, ideally with existing experience in data collection and analysis for the energy system.
  • Interest in inter-disciplinary work, understanding and addressing climate change mitigation and energy systems, particularly in transport and investments.
  • A sense for teamwork and ability to interact with a diverse array of people.
  • Our working language is English, so excellent English writing and verbal skills are necessary. Basic German skills are welcome, but not required, other language skills are an asset.

  • Terms:                         1 year contract with 20 hours per week (negotiable), with the perspective of extension based on performance and funding.
  • Requirements:             You have to be a student who is enrolled at a university in Germany for at least another 4 months, ideally a lot longer.
