We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for implementing environmental, health and safety strategies, guidelines and processes in order to protect employee health and prevent injury, in addition to reducing our environmental impact and ensuring compliance with regulations. Please note that it is a fixed term (12months) and part time contract (16h/ week).
About the Role
In your role as an EMEA EHS Director, you will:
- Manage EHS performance/aspects of Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) and other external partners/providers
- Partner with other respective Regional Leads (FM/Security/Property/HR/Legal) with their responsibilities in the region
- Understand and align the business, organizational and functional directions to drive EH&S strategy for each location.
- Assess program demands for all workgroups and working arrangements and proactively anticipate changes, in collaboration with other members of the regional team
- Provide EHS technical guidance in support of business strategies and operational changes
- Provide co-ordination of all EHS services within markets. Promote and expand the remit of EHS services
- Provide rapid response to business units and customers through localized presence and knowledge.
- Ensure clear lines of communication between the business units and EHS Regional teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior customers and colleagues/partners in the region
- Identify emerging customer needs and opportunities to provide value through sharing best practices and operational efficiencies throughout the region
- Align policies, processes, and best practices with business line strategies, thereby maximizing the value that EHS delivers to customers
About You
You’re a fit for the role of EMEA EHS Director if you have:
- Comprehensive understanding of environmental, health and safety program management and implementation with a multi-location, international organization
- Understanding of/experience with UK EHS legislation.
- Strong cross-discipline focus with the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy in making decisions
- Strong leadership skills, exceptional business and finance acumen, and well-developed interpersonal skills required to build a successful and cohesive team
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required; proactive communication skills are a requisite in establishing and maintaining customer confidence
- Ability to synthesize complex situations into key components and manage resolution effectively
- Proficiency in establishing and building key stakeholder relationships to meet the goals of the organization
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite/tools
- Ability to travel to other Thomson Reuters sites to oversee EHS program implementation, ensure execution of requirements related to property transactions, fulfill line manager duties, and collaborate with colleagues on projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (preferably safety & health, environmental, EHS)
- Master’s Degree desirable
- Direct EHS experience is required, including personal experience of managing EHS services at large commercial offices
- Fluency in English and strong cultural awareness of national diversity within the region.
- Vendor management skills with specific experience partnering with third party vendors in the region
- Financial analysis and business acumen skills
- Change Management, Management Systems implementation, and Process Improvement experience
