Ancestry is looking for a Staff Product Manager to lead the personalization strategy, roadmap, and execution for our growing Family History product line. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, you’ll work closely with a cross-functional team of designers, engineers, data scientists, and marketing experts to deliver innovative product experiences. We’re looking for someone with strong technical expertise and a creative approach to problem-solving, a hypothesis-driven mindset, and the ability to balance visionary ideas with practical execution.
What You Will Do...
Drive Personalization Strategy: Lead the vision, strategy, and execution for personalized experiences across Ancestry’s platforms, using data-driven insights to create highly relevant and engaging user experiences.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data science, engineering, design, and marketing, to deliver personalized features and solutions that meet both customer needs and business goals.
Define Product Roadmap: Develop and prioritize the product roadmap for personalization initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader company objectives and customer-centric outcomes.
Leverage Data and Analytics: Utilize data from user behavior, A/B tests, and customer feedback to make informed decisions that improve personalization and user engagement. Partner with data teams to implement effective measurement frameworks.
Enhance User Journeys: Define and optimize user journeys, applying personalization strategies at key touchpoints across the Ancestry experience, from onboarding to discovery to engagement.
Innovate and Experiment: Lead efforts to innovate new personalization features, testing and iterating on concepts to enhance the overall user experience. Drive the experimentation process, ensuring personalized features are validated before a broader rollout.
Advocate for the Customer: Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring personalized experiences are meaningful, relevant, and add value. Champion personalization initiatives that address real user needs while ensuring ethical use of data.
Measure Success: Establish clear KPIs for personalization efforts, monitor progress, and report on outcomes to stakeholders. Drive continuous improvements based on performance data and feedback loops.
Who you are…
You have 5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on personalization, user experience, or similar areas, ideally in consumer-facing or data-driven products.
You have a strong understanding of data analytics, A/B testing, and how to leverage user insights to drive product decisions. You are comfortable using data to measure success, identify trends, and iterate quickly
You have a passion for understanding and solving customer pain points. You are empathetic to the user journey and skilled at crafting personalized experiences that truly resonate with users.
You excel at collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, data science, and marketing, and can translate technical requirements into clear, actionable product strategies.
You can clearly articulate the vision, strategy, and progress of your projects to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are adept at influencing, negotiating, and aligning teams to drive results.
You bring new ideas to the table and can think outside the box when developing personalization strategies. You are not afraid to experiment, test, and refine ideas based on real-world feedback.
You have a solid understanding of modern web technologies, machine learning, and personalization algorithms, and can effectively collaborate with technical teams to bring your ideas to life.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a direct-to-consumer tech company or with large-scale consumer products.
Knowledge of genealogical, historical, or Ancestry-related content is a plus.
Familiarity with personalization platforms and machine learning models used to drive recommendations or personalized experiences.

As a signatory of the ParityPledge in Support of Women and the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color, Ancestry values pay transparency and pay equity. We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position: $177,345 - $202,755 with eligibility for bonus, equity and comprehensive benefits including health, dental and vision.
