What You Will Achieve

Reporting to a Sr Director Business Development, the Business Development Sales Director is responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with strategically important large biopharmaceutical customers that represent significant current revenue or growth potential for Pfizer CentreOne or Pfizer. The Business Development Sales Director is responsible for achieving revenue and margin growth targets. 

In your role, you will be involved in determining customer requirements and translating them into organizational plans. You will work with teams across the organization to review and guide budget status, workforce level, equipment availability, and other company capabilities. Your collaboration and negotiation skills will be leveraged to build meaningful relationships across the organization to evaluate and guide new market initiatives. Your performance driven insights and innovation will help you build constructive relationships across the organization to achieve your division’s goals and objectives.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, while meeting sales targets by Identifying and closing new accounts ensuring the quality of periodic communications to both internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Ability to effectively identify and implement the most efficient virtual/in-person engagement strategies by customer to maximize overall effectiveness and impact. Develops and implements effective business call plans and adapts based on self-identified opportunities and meet assigned capture and sales goals 
  •  Effectively builds rapport and relationships with customers across virtual and F2F environments; maintains a methodical approach toward call objectives (e.g., clear next steps and appropriate documentation, managing to KPIs); utilizes current digital tools effectively (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office) as well as adapts quickly to new tools for successful customer engagement; leverages analytics to assist with developing insights and next best action plans 
  • Develops and delivers relevant, targeted messaging utilizing approved materials via customer engagement to drive demand and leverages account priorities to drive a positive business outcome; proactively provides insights for the development of new and innovative approved messaging and resource 
  • Leverages manufacturing knowledge to appropriately educate customers on the PC1 value proposition  
  • Liaise with PGS (Pfizer Global Supply) and other internal resources to obtain information necessary to develop and issue proposals to potential clients, facilitating due diligence plant visits and meetings, formulating and negotiating complex development and supply contracts.  
  • Interact regularly with contacts in key accounts from the C-suite to the management ranks to present PC1 capabilities and identify fresh new business opportunities. 
  • Establish and maintain productive, professional relationships with key decision makers 
  • Negotiate multi-product master services agreements (MSA) with assigned key accounts and collaborate with and enlist the support of appropriate global sales colleagues and others to secure each new product statement of work under each MSA 
  • Closely coordinate senior leadership and executive involvement with key account management as required 
  • Participate in annual long range planning, annual operating plan and near-term demand/financial forecasting; financial, analytical and modeling skills required 
  • Establish and maintain accurate forecasts for key accounts and provide information during the financial planning cycles as required 
  • On an as needed basis, represent Pfizer on areas of interest outside of PC1 
  • Liaise and align with PGS (Sites, Quality Assurance, etc.) and Regulatory Affairs to accomplish business objectives 
  • Have a deep understanding of the established PC1/PGS governance, known as the “guardrails” and work within the construct of the process with key stakeholders 
  • Own and manage the salesforce process for potential opportunities 

 

Qualifications  

Must-Have 

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years' experience
  • Experience in selling business-to-business or negotiating with suppliers 
  • Demonstrated experience in explaining and summarizing complex analytics to senior leaders
  • Strong Financial and business acumen 
  • A proven track record of strong executive relationship building and direct experience in biopharmaceutical Contract Manufacturing Business-to-Business (B2B)
  • Ability to establish and negotiate complex strategic contracts is required
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to clearly articulate scope and deliverables of project
  • Effective listening skills and ability to seek understanding of different points of view and opinions
  • Self-starter and self-directed with initiative to proactively identify and address needs, barriers, take a concept to build out details for execution, etc.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Minimum of 25% travel required; additional travel is dependent on meeting growth/revenue targets

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
