This is a remote position.
Full Time - Flexible hours - but in the first few weeks there will need to be training and then some touchpoints in CST time.
Work Schedule:
• Monday – Friday | 40 hours/week.
o The timing of these hours is flexible and can be worked in your preferred local time zone.
o Initially during the training period, we will have to coordinate some overlap time with our time zone (Central Standard Time US). Once you have proven you understand the tasks and can communicate well with the team, the timing will be flexible aside from weekly touchpoint meetings.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team to help support our clients’ bookkeeping needs. As a bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in accounting or finance to gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills.
Primary Responsibilities: (will vary between clients)
• Maintain financial records: Accurately record financial transactions including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments using bookkeeping software
(Quickbooks/Xero).
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable: Monitor and reconcile vendor invoices, process payments, and manage customer invoicing and collections.
• Bank and credit card reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements and credit card transactions to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Prepare financial reports: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Assist with payroll processing: Maintain employee records, track hours worked, calculate wages, and prepare payroll-related reports.
• Support budgeting and forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to gather data and assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
• Maintain confidentiality: Handle financial information with utmost confidentiality and ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
• Perform other related tasks: Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Education: A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
• Proficient in bookkeeping software: 1-2 years of experience using QuickBooks or Xero is preferred.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping principles: Familiarity with basic accounting principles, such as debits and credits, journal entries, and financial statements.
• Attention to detail: Strong numerical accuracy and the ability to pay close attention to detail while working with financial data.
• Organizational skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
• Analytical thinking: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision-making.
• Computer literacy: Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and other relevant software applications.
• Communication skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members and external stakeholders.
• Ethical conduct: High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling financial information with integrity.
• Team player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and assist colleagues when necessary.
*Your duties are likely to evolve as you gain experience. This is a long-term opportunity. This position trains and gives experience in small business accounting, bookkeeping tasks, and in working independently as well as with a team.
