Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Health Educator is responsible for promoting, maintaining, and improving individual and/or community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors that promote healthy living and prevent disease. This position supports communities, community based youth serving organizations and other partners with behavioral health and social determinants of health efforts. This includes collecting and analyzing data to identify health needs, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating health education designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies and environments.

Travel Requirement: 

  • Travel is required for this position.

  • To be eligible, candidate must reside in one of the following Wisconsin counties: Ashland, Bayfield, Florence, Forest, Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida, Portage, Price, Sawyer, Taylor, Vilas, Wood.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health, Health Education, Wellness, Health Promotion, or a related field.

Preferred/Optional: Master in Community Health Education or Public Health.

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: Two years of health education experience. Experience with Microsoft Office products. Strong written and verbal skills.

Preferred/Optional: Five plus years of health education experience. Knowledge of quality improvement and performance management processes.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: None

Preferred/Optional: Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).

Additional Job Summary:

  • Successful candidate will have knowledge of high quality youth development programs, including afterschool, out-of-school time, and childcare programs.

  • Health Educator will work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including schools, community organizations, childcare programs, and government agencies.

  • Some experience in providing training.
