The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Grant Proposal Manager, Clinical Research supporting our National Center office that is located in Dallas, TX. This role can be home based.

 

The Grant Proposal Manager is responsible for the development of compelling research and implementation science proposals on behalf of the American Heart Association Clinical Research Department. This position collaborates with principal investigators, biostatisticians and key thought leaders to design studies that leverage American Heart Association unique assets, including its extensive registry site network, scientific expertise and data science capabilities. This individual will lead the proposal and budget process for retrospective studies, prospective clinical trials and prospective implementation studies. The Grant Proposal Manager reports directly to the Sr. Director of Registry Research and provides overall support for scientific proposals, proposal templates, proposal decks and proposal budgets to advance the business of the Clinical Research Department. This position also supports the management of ongoing retrospective research projects leveraging registry data to ensure timely execution and publication.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft proposals for retrospective studies, prospective clinical trials and implementation studies.
  • Create proposal budgets.
  • Work collaboratively with experts to high value proposals that answer critical research questions.
  • Work collaboratively with the QORA team, Corporate Relations, and Mission Advancement to gain consensus on final proposals for submission.
  • Support the Sr. Director in ongoing reporting for existing funded projects.
  • Provide structure and ongoing improvements for the proposal development process. 
  • Works to steward externally funded research analysis to deliver analytics and publications on time and in alignment with sponsor deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for standard funding opportunity proposals, providing regular information updates and promptly answering questions from a variety of stakeholders in support of revenue development for the American Heart Association.
  • Compile, write and/or regularly update boilerplate content and frequently used attachments for use in a variety of proposals, such as introductions, history, explanation of indirect costs, and other frequently-used narrative.
  • Execute special projects.
  • Adapts easily to shifting priorities and unexpected deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as requested and special projects at the request of the SVP, Clinical Research.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree Required, PhD preferred
  • Five (5) – Eight (8) years of relevant experience
  • Experience in clinical grant writing and clinical research
  • Experience in proposal writing including serving as lead writer and managing the proposal development life cycle. Writing samples of personally-written proposals will be required.
  • Experience as a clinician or working in healthcare settings
  • Strong verbal and excellent business writing communications skills, including strong presentation skills
  • Superior attention to detail; outstanding organization and prioritization skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project)
  • Flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities and unpredictable events
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time per year

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in the life science industry

 

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected pay range will be $80,000 to $110,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. The American Heart Association invests in its people.
