The Role

As part of Neo4j’s Sales Engineering team, you’ll be a technologist who thrives on working directly with customers across a variety of industries and technical landscapes. You’ll provide thought leadership in engineering and architecture, helping customers design and implement Neo4j-powered solutions tailored to their needs.

The role of a Sales Engineer encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, starting with understanding a prospective customer’s unique requirements and environment. You’ll translate these into tailored solution architectures that incorporate Neo4j’s advanced graph database technology, guiding stakeholders throughout the sales process. Day-to-day activities include demonstrating Neo4j’s capabilities for specific use cases, whiteboarding solution architectures, and engaging with technical decision-makers to align solutions with their business goals.

In this role, you’ll bridge the gap between business and technology, combining technical expertise with a solid understanding of business priorities to deliver impactful solutions.

Beyond Graph Expertise
You’ll also design solutions that incorporate complementary architectural components in a modern graph-based ecosystem. This includes integrating Neo4j with Big Data platforms, other NoSQL databases, relational databases, caching mechanisms, messaging services, middleware, and AI/ML frameworks.

In this role, you’ll combine technical mastery with business acumen to deliver innovative, graph-based solutions that address complex challenges while incorporating cutting-edge GenAI and LLM capabilities. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of the next wave of data-driven transformation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with Customers: Act as a central player in Neo4j PreSales projects, building and nurturing strong partnerships with customer teams.
  • Sales Team Contribution: Be a vital contributor to the Neo4j sales organization, effectively communicating the transformative benefits of graph database solutions.
  • Technical Alignment: Ensure smooth and efficient integration of Neo4j solutions within the customer’s technical environment.
  • Client Consultations: Provide insights and recommendations that align with clients' technical infrastructure and business strategies.
  • Solution Development: Design and present Neo4j-based prototypes that address customer needs and showcase desired functionalities.

Key Role Characteristics:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in PreSales or Professional Services, ideally in the automotive or manufacturing sectors.
  • Database Expertise: Strong understanding of database platforms, with a focus on NoSQL systems.
  • Solution Design: Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with software development and coding languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Advisory Collaboration: Proven success in guiding technical teams through consultative methods.
  • Adaptability: Strong desire to learn and quickly adapt to emerging technologies.
  • Problem-Solving: Passion for solving complex technical challenges with innovative approaches.
  • Educational Skills: Capability to lead training and workshops for small groups.
  • Technical Sales Experience: Ability to manage technical aspects of the sales cycle effectively.
  • Travel Readiness: Willing to travel as required.
  • Language Requirement: Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in German is mandatory.

  • Graph AI and Data Science: Understanding of graph-based AI and machine learning use cases, with experience leveraging Neo4j GDS or similar tools.
  • ETL and Data Integration: Expertise in data integration, ETL workflows, and data virtualization techniques.
