This role in a nutshell:
You’ll harness your detailed knowledge of supplier obligations and industry change to ensure that OVO adheres to regulatory standards and leads the industry in sustainable business practices.
This role is responsible for managing our compliance framework, fostering positive and constructive relationships with regulatory bodies, and guiding the retail business through the complexities of compliance obligations and risk. It serves as a cornerstone in our strategic pursuit of net zero carbon living, ensuring that all compliance efforts align with and support our environmental and corporate objectives.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Lead and develop OVO’s second-line compliance function to ensure a clear and well informed understanding of all regulatory obligations and compliance risk across the retail business
- Oversee the compliance advisory process to ensure that the retail business is well supported with effective and consistent regulatory advice and guidance
- Manage the resolution of compliance incidents, driving customer-focussed remedies and constructive engagement with the regulator
- Develop positive and constructive relationships with OFGEM and other key stakeholders to enhance OVO’s regulatory position and reputation
- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of compliance systems, including procedures and training programs to ensure staff across multiple sites are well-versed in regulatory standards
- Manage and develop a skilled team of compliance professionals, ensuring they are capable and motivated to meet strategic goals

You’ll be a successful Senior Compliance Manager at OVO if you…
- Are an experienced compliance professional, with a detailed knowledge and understanding of supplier licence conditions and the intent that sits behind them
- Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to digest, interpret and clearly explain complex regulatory positions to a range of stakeholders at all levels
- Have strong leadership and team management skills, capable of motivating and guiding a high-performing team through complex regulatory landscapes
- Are able to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Can think strategically, with the ability to see the bigger picture and align compliance practices with broader corporate goals and objectives
- Have a strong ethical foundation and a commitment to promoting transparency and integrity within the business practices
- Are resilient and adaptable in managing the challenges of a fast-paced environment within a highly regulated and evolving market

We’ll pay you between £65,000 - £100,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
