As we grow, we’re looking for a Director of Subscription & Lifecycle Marketing to own our subscription business, drive customer retention, and maximize lifetime value (LTV).

Position Overview
The Director of Subscription & Lifecycle Marketing will be responsible for leading our blade subscription and customer retention strategies. This role is crucial in developing and implementing lifecycle initiatives that increase customer engagement, reduce churn, and elevate our subscription offerings. Working cross-functionally, you will own key metrics, drive continuous improvement, and strategize on how to grow subscriber engagement and loyalty while improving LTV.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Own Subscription Business & Retention Strategy

  • Manage the Freebird subscription model end-to-end, overseeing product offerings, pricing, backend subscription platforms, and all customer communications.
  • Leverage insights from customer data and analytics to optimize the subscription experience, ensuring high engagement and retention.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (web, creative, finance) to create a seamless, engaging subscription journey that reduces churn and enhances customer loyalty.

2. Data-Driven Lifecycle Marketing & A/B Testing

  • Drive and monitor key metrics, including LTV, reorder rates, churn, and engagement to identify actionable insights and optimize lifecycle marketing strategies.
  • Utilize robust cohort analysis and A/B testing to refine touchpoints and deliver personalized experiences that resonate with subscribers, maximizing engagement and minimizing churn.

3. Retention Channel Leadership

  • Own and expand our lifecycle channels, including email, SMS, direct mail, and loyalty initiatives, turning them into powerful tools for customer engagement and retention.
  • Develop and execute targeted campaigns, offers, and loyalty programs to drive repeat purchases and strengthen customer loyalty across our subscriber and non-subscriber base.

4. Enhance Subscription Experience Across Platforms

  • Partner with design, development, and operations to improve subscription touchpoints across the website, packaging, and user experience.
  • Ensure Freebird’s brand voice and mission are reflected in all subscriber interactions, creating an authentic and value-driven journey from onboarding to renewal.

5. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead a team of marketers, providing guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction to execute campaigns that drive subscriber growth and loyalty.
  • Work with key stakeholders in growth, finance, and customer experience teams to set and achieve ambitious targets for subscription growth and retention.

Requirements

  • DTC Subscription & Retention Expertise: 5+ years in a DTC subscription or lifecycle role, with proven experience driving customer retention and LTV in a physical product environment.
  • Lifecycle Marketing Mastery: Deep understanding and hands-on experience with lifecycle marketing channels, including email, SMS, and direct mail, along with proficiency in platforms like Klaviyo, Attentive, and Skio.
  • Data-Driven Decision Maker: Strong analytical skills with a passion for using data to guide decisions and improve performance. You are comfortable with KPIs, metrics, and deriving insights to shape marketing strategies.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: Dedicated to creating a top-tier customer experience, with an understanding of customer needs and behaviors that drive loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Ability to influence and collaborate with various teams to achieve goals, ensuring alignment and execution of strategies across the organization.
