Description

The Project Manager will need to be a subject matter expert in lighting and energy management systems and is responsible for managing programs consisting of multi-site projects while acting as an extension of Walgreen’s design and construction staff overseeing the work of contractors, designers and vendors. Directs and manages field-based project managers assigned to projects, including executing select projects, to ensure that project goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and budget parameters, working with internal and external Stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Provides a range of administrative, managerial, and technical support functions for construction and modernization of all plumbing projects within an account assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Daily program management and execution of planned capital projects (LED retrofits, fixture removal, electrical etc.)
  • Trouble shooting daily on hard to resolve situations with lighting and energy management systems.
  • Project planning, project tracking, scope management, change control management, risk management, and quality assurance of the development project team
  • Ensures projects are completed according to time and budget schedules, and that objectives conform to division’s overall standards and operations objectives and user requirements
  • Resolves project conflicts with affected management
  • Identifies and recommends project management tools
  • Creates detailed plans for consulting projects
  • Writes design documents and specifications
  • Analyze and estimate costs; prepare cost summaries for projects, including equipment, labor, materials, site preparation, sub-contractor costs and other related costs as needed.
  • Facilitate communication between store operations, architects, engineering, developers, owners, and external contractors; clarifying expectations for information and service delivery
  • Review and provide input for development of project plans.
  • Manage construction plan(s) and maintain current project status records.
  • Report, track, and trouble-shoot exceptions and escalate, track and resolve conflicts regarding resource commitment and delivery of results
  • Support project executives on multiple projects and assignments.
  • Prepare/update project status reports, process invoices, update tracking reports, and maintain files for due diligence and financials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or similar experience. Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Project Management with expertise in lighting and energy management systems.
  • Experience in multi-site retail projects preferred
  • Ability to prepare and track budgets.
  • Understanding of technical requirements for relocation, construction, and renovation projects.
  • Familiarity with architectural drawings and furniture and space planning concepts, a plus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to successfully coordinate multiple staff of different levels.
  • PMP or LEED certification, preferred
