Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Hours Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM; additional/alternate hours may be required. This is a remote role; however, living in Chicago or Charlotte is a plus. Advocate may approve remote workers who reside in the following registered states: AL, AK, AR, AZ, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, LA, KS, KY, ME, MI, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV, WY.
Major Responsibilities:
- Transactions: Lead financing transactions of both taxable and tax-exempt debt, including the request for proposal process and negotiations, reviewing/drafting of marketing materials and other documents as needed, and serving as key contact for connecting underwriters/banks, counsel, advisors etc. Familiarity with various issuing authorities and credit products is key.
- Compliance: Review and monitor the compliance of all outstanding debt and derivatives. This includes tracking issuance costs and the use of all proceeds and associated private use, maintaining a private business use database and modeling for IRS reporting, monitoring and forecasting all debt covenants, preparing and distributing ongoing compliance packages for stakeholders.
- Credit Structure: Partner with counsel, advisors, underwriters and banks to develop and implement an integrated credit group strategy. This entails a deep understanding of existing legal documents and key provisions, asset review for all outstanding debt and requires strong attention to detail and comfort working with legal agreement.
- Leasing: Review and recommend lease strategies (real property and equipment), develop and maintain enterprise lease policies, and recommend terms on intercompany and joint venture financing strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Regularly engage with issuers, investors, rating agencies, underwriters, commercial banks, attorneys, and advisors to maintain positive relationships, stay abreast of market dynamics and peer transactions, and generate new ideas for financing activities for Advocate Health.
- Reporting, audit support and other treasury-related duties as required.
- This leader will supervise and review work of the debt team, conduct performance evaluations, recommend hiring/termination and other supervisory duties. This role also requires annual budget development for debt service and the development of corporate policies related to debt and financing.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree required, business or finance.
Experience Required:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Strategic thinker with expert knowledge of credit markets, tax-exempt and taxable debt structures, derivatives and other key financing concepts.
- Deep understanding of tax-exempt debt requirements regarding post-issuance procedures, private use compliance, arbitrage rebate calculations and reporting.
- Experience navigating multiple projects with competing timelines and creating an organized process flow.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with analytical and problem solving skills; comfortable presenting analysis and findings to executives.
- Detail-oriented with ability to reconcile across multiple data sources and provide reporting that requires minimal review; ability to interpret, analyze and edit legal agreements (financing agreements, swap documents, etc).
- Solid Excel and PowerPoint skills and ability to summarize complex information for executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and encourage a high-performing, integrated finance team.
