As a startup, we are looking for people who would bring structure and scale to the complex growth challenges of a nonprofit organization by rolling up their sleeves to get stuff done! Our organization is a nonprofit that is not funded by a zillionaire. We do not accept corporate ads. As such, we are only currently able to pay a small core team, as well as experienced professional freelancers, relying primarily on skilled volunteers to fill out our growing organizational infrastructure.

Position Summary:

WhoWhatWhy is seeking a dedicated professional to optimize and streamline our donor data management system, enhancing both technical and relationship aspects of high-touch fundraising. This role is pivotal in designing Salesforce data fields, creating efficient workflows, and ensuring that donor-facing teams have the tools they need to build lasting relationships with major donors.

As a nonprofit organization that prioritizes mission over profits, we rely on passionate volunteers who are eager to make a difference. We invite individuals from all backgrounds, whether students, retirees, or professionals, to join us in reshaping the future of nonprofit donor engagement.


Note: Must be able to attend bi-weekly meetings, Tuesdays at 12:00 PM EST


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the liaison between fundraisers and the Salesforce technical team, ensuring that donor data collection aligns with organizational goals.
  • Design, implement, and organize key data fields and workflows for donor management in Salesforce.
  • Collaborate with donor managers to ensure they have the tools and systems necessary for relationship-building.
  • Customize and optimize Salesforce to meet high-touch fundraising needs, ensuring major gifts officers can efficiently log interactions, track inquiries, and generate reports.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and suggest CRM tools to enhance donor engagement.
  • Ensure smooth data integration between fundraising strategies and Salesforce, providing technical support when necessary.
  • Facilitate a collaborative culture, encouraging team members to proactively seek expert advice and solve problems.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-4 years of experience in donor management, CRM systems, or a related field, preferably in nonprofit organizations.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, including custom fields, workflows, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of both technical CRM aspects and relational donor engagement strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, collaborative approach.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas to non-technical users.
  • Experience in process improvement and designing user-friendly workflows.
  • Comfortable working remotely and effectively managing communication tools like Slack and Zoom.

Expectations:

  • Commitment to a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Attend bi-weekly department meetings on Tuesdays at 12:00 p.m. EST.
  • Respond promptly through Slack, email, and other communication tools.
  • Minimum commitment of 12 months to ensure continuity and impact.
