The Opportunity
"FICO is seeking a Principal Architect who thrives in providing technical vision and direction to the Observability/IT Operational Analytics space within a fast-paced cloud environment. What You’ll Contribute
Creation of a forward-looking and thinking design to meet and exceed requirements, focusing on scalable designs and customer enablement.
Lead the development and execution of comprehensive observability strategies to enhance system reliability and performance.
Champion and lead the design of AI and ML-based technologies to assist in automated and/or rapid resolution and decision making within ITOA, delivering improved customer satisfaction.
Mentor and guide team members on best practices in observability, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Articulation of the agreed design and vision to stakeholders, ensuring there is support and understanding across the organization
Collaborate with stakeholder teams to successfully integrate observability into all business processes and engineering (e.g. CI/CD pipelines) in a supportable and scalable manner.
Assist in creating standards, policies, self-service automation, and general implementation of agreed designs.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies in the observability space and recommend innovative tools and practices to enhance capabilities.
Play a key role in incident management processes, utilizing observability tools to optimize troubleshooting capabilities.
Ensure observability solutions comply with industry standards and security regulations, safeguarding data integrity and privacy.
What We’re Seeking
Expert knowledge and experience in both design/architecture and user experience in both enterprise observability tooling as well as open source technologies.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to deliver complex projects on time and within scope.
Proficiency with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and microservices architectures.
Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
Deep understanding of logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting practices in large-scale distributed systems.
Experience with real-time analytics platforms and handling streaming data.
Significant experience in effective integrations between systems of record, systems of engagement and systems of intelligence to achieve business requirements (e.g., ML-based event correlation and enrichment with business context).
Experience with systems of intelligence and systems of engagement tooling (e.g., Grokstream, BigPanda, Moogsoft, etc).
Experience using technologies to drive scalability within ITOA (e.g. anomaly detection, event clustering, incident classification, predictive analysis, automated resolution issue workflows, automated customer notifications, machine driven root cause analysis, etc.)
Significant experience in providing technical leadership and delivering of a technical vision.
Experience in tooling in the wider ITOA domain would be beneficial (e.g. ServiceNow, OpsGenie, etc.)
Expertise in scripting for automation and software engineering best practices.
Knowledge and understanding of OpenTelemetry.
Advanced experience working in an AWS Environment. Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect are a plus.
Understanding of security considerations in observability, including data encryption and access controls.

The targeted base pay range for this role is: $130,000 to $204,000 with this range reflecting differences in candidate knowledge, skills and experience.
