Virtualization Architect
Job Summary:
As a Virtualization Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing cutting-edge solutions from various vendors and enhancing existing solutions to address business needs. Working closely with customers, you will define project scopes, understand business requirements, design solutions, and
meticulously document architectures. Collaborating with operational teams, you will transition and hand over infrastructure, emphasizing automation as a primary goal. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing level 3 support and ensuring the continuous availability and confidentiality of services.
Professional Skills:
1. Analytic Skills:
• Ability to create comprehensive current state and future state solution architecture documents, detailing platforms, technologies, integration, and communication methods.
2. Communication Skills:
• Effective communication with stakeholders at various levels to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
3. Technical Knowledge and Certifications:
• Expertise in virtualization technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, VSAN, NSXT, and VMware Aria Operations.
• Proficiency in VMware Aria Automation, understanding of production constraints, and readiness to provide occasional support during non-business hours.
• Familiarity with ITIL and project management methodologies is advantageous.
• Capability to design and implement large-scale, high-availability solutions.
• Knowledge of network concepts and components, along with the ability to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot features and components.
• An asset would be knowledge of PKS (Pivotal Container Service).
Activities (Proactive and Reactive):
1. Understanding Business Needs:
• Collaborate with customers to comprehend their business needs.
2. Designing Solutions:
• Develop solutions within VMware Products to meet identified business
requirements.
3. Documentation:
• Produce comprehensive architecture documents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
4. Transition and Hand-Over:
• Facilitate the smooth transition and handover of infrastructure to operational teams.
5. Level 3 Support:
• Act as a level 3 support resource for operational teams, ensuring prompt issue resolution.
6. Coaching and Knowledge Transfer:
• Coach and transfer knowledge to operational teams, fostering a collaborative and skillful working environment.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in virtualization architecture and design.
• Relevant certifications in virtualization technologies.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to evolving business needs.
• Demonstrated commitment to automation and efficiency.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT architecture within a medium to large IT environment.
Requirements:
• Must fulfil the requirements to obtain an EU security clearance
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in any other European language is a plus.
