Job description

At Conduit, we believe in a world where anyone can frictionlessly send and receive any asset at any time. Our first step in building towards that vision is enabling cross-border transactions that are drastically faster, cheaper and simpler. As we scale the business, we are looking for an Engineering Manager to join us through this next phase of growth.

About the role:
You will be the first Engineering Manager hired by the team, working directly with the CTO. This role is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of backend systems, experience with externalizable APIs and products, and a passion for building teams in a high-growth environment.

About the work:
In this role, you will join the Engineering Leadership team for our rapidly growing cross-border payment network. You will be deeply involved in shaping our teams, roles, and processes as we grow and scale the product and platform.

Our company is globally distributed, offering the opportunity to collaborate with co-workers across the world. This role requires availability to work and attend meetings during Eastern Time zone (North America) business hours.

What you'll do in this role:
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of engineers, guiding technical execution, career growth, and professional development. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Drive the successful execution of engineering projects by organizing teamwork, setting goals, and holding the team accountable. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions, including refining QA processes and overseeing code reviews.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders, including Product Management, Operations, Compliance, and external partners, to manage technical dependencies while aligning technical decisions with broader business goals.
  • Oversee the prioritization and execution of engineering tasks, including managing critical migration projects. Ensure efficient project delivery by negotiating scope, managing resources, and maintaining project timelines.
  • Drive the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top engineering talent. Uphold high hiring standards and contribute to the continuous improvement of hiring practices, ensuring a strong alignment between team dynamics and company culture.
  • Manage processes to help the team do its best work in a rapidly evolving organization.
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of the Engineering Leadership team.

  • What we’re looking for:
  • You’ve managed engineering teams that have built and shipped customer-facing products at scale.
  • 3+ years of proven experience as an Engineering Manager, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment, and 7 years of overall software development experience.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software engineering, particularly in backend development in cloud-native environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive project execution, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing engineering talent.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Nice to have:
  • Experience with high-growth startup environments.
  • Domain experience in fintech.
  • Experience working in a geographically dispersed, fully remote company.

  • What we offer:
  • Competitive compensation
  • Employee Stock Options Program
  • Home office setup stipend
  • Medical, dental, vision and supplementary benefits
  • Remote-first environment with flexible working hours to accommodate work-life balance
  • Growth potential and opportunity to have a significant impact at an early stage of our company's journey
  • Unlimited PTO
