Berlin, Germany - Office, Flex, or Remote

Our HubSpot People team prides itself on our innovative and flexible approach to our people strategy and experience. We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team as a Senior Employee Relations Partner, Works Council as part of our People Partnerships function.

This role will sit within our Global People Business Partnerships team and is directly responsible for building and maintaining a strong partnership with the Works Councils in Germany and France (CSE) and any other employee representative bodies that may be established in the future. In this role you will nurture a constructive relationship between the Employer and the Works Councils, adopting a practical and commercial approach to serving both the employee and company interests. The successful candidate will partner with the Employment Legal team to manage compliance with all necessary requirements in terms of information, consultation and codetermination, while also ensuring productive collaboration between HubSpot and Works Council, enabling the company to implement key strategies and supporting business growth. This is a highly collaborative role which requires strong interpersonal skills and working across multiple teams. There will also be opportunities to participate on global People projects and support the regional People team on general tasks, however, the management of the relationships with the Works Councils will always be the first priority.

In the first 30 days, you will have an opportunity to learn our culture, how we support our employees, and our company growth strategy. During onboarding we will immerse you in our approach to People and how we help our managers solve problems while staying true to the culture we are so proud of.

In the first 90 days, you will begin to build yourself as a trusted adviser to the business, and own cases and workstreams end to end.

In your role, you will:

  • Act as the primary contact responsible for employer representation with the Works Councils in Germany and France, and assist the People team and wider business with managing Works Council relations, including support for meetings and advising on all matters related to the Works Councils in both locations.
  • Create and maintain a positive constructive working atmosphere between the Works Council and Employer through regular and transparent dialogue.
  • Take responsibility for handling assigned Works Council requests. This includes thoroughly examining each request and, in partnership with the Employment Legal team, preparing works agreements, and managing negotiations.
  • Coordinate and collaborate on topics from different departments in order to achieve an efficient work flow/cooperation with the Works Council.
  • Design and deliver annual training/education for the international managers concerning the German/French Works Council, including actual developments and legal innovations.
  • Own project management activities related to Works Council activities with the goal to implement long-term efficient solutions for the business.
  • Positively collaborate across peer groups - specifically individuals within Legal, People Operations, People Business Partners, Payroll, Benefits, IT, and Finance. Particularly, foster strong working relationships with our Employment Legal team to balance risk and calibrate recommendations for decision-making.
  • Support the Global People Business Partnerships and Employee Relations teams with preparatory and administrative activities/tasks regarding on-going projects or cases, as needed.

We are looking for people who have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – fluent in both English & German. French would also be a distinct advantage.
  • HR or legal related education, with strong familiarity and understanding of German labor law to serve business outcomes, particularly experience operating in the EMEA employment law and regulatory frameworks. Global experience is preferred.
  • Strong experience in partnering with various key stakeholders and being an effective team player including the ability to build positive and collaborative relationships and influence key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with unions and works councils.
  • A pragmatic approach and well-developed negotiation skills.
  • Ability to make good judgment for sensitive, complex and/or ambiguous situations.
  • A strategic mindset, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to work successfully within an ambiguous, complex, fast paced and challenging business environment.
  • The ability to work with a high level of confidentiality and discretion.

Please submit your application in English.
