Come Grow with Us and Join an Award-Winning Organization! Stearns Bank is looking for a Commercial & Multifamily Housing Lender. This is a remote-eligible position headquartered out of St. Cloud, Minnesota.
JOB SUMMARY
Source, originate and close commercial and multifamily loans. Develop loan relationships & referral sources and manage commercial loan portfolios to provide optimum banking solutions for commercial developers and customers while maximum profitability to the bank with a minimum and managed risk.
Starting annual salary of $120,000.00. Employment offers will be dependent upon the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Seeks out opportunities to promote commercial and multifamily lending at Stearns Bank through industry contacts and informal networks. Increases the Bank’s visibility through community outreach and public speaking opportunities.
- Development of referral partners through business development efforts, industry & trade associations, while maintaining awareness of industry changes.
- Interview loan applicants to collect and analyze financial data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect, structure the transaction and the merits of the specific loan request. Make presentations to loan committee for further advice on approval.
- Establish and negotiate where necessary the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method, schedule, and collateral requirements.
- Promote and have knowledge of all commercial and multifamily housing lending programs and other credit improvement programs including affordable programs.
- Collect and analyze information that reflects the current creditworthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans. Information may be acquired by direct inspection of the applicant's business and/or collateral, email correspondence, review of interim financial reports and personal interview.
- Monitor and review assigned commercial loans on a regular and continuing basis; identify problem or delinquent loan accounts or those having an adverse impact on Bank profitability; initiate appropriate corrective actions on delinquent accounts on a timely basis; refer problem accounts to manager as required or needed.
- Ensure adequate documentation, adherence to established bank policy, and compliance with banking laws and regulations exists on all bank assets assigned for supervision. Exercise sound credit decisions relating to the banks credit underwriting and management.
- Stay ahead of new developments and trends in the commercial loan market; identify potential lending opportunities and participate in the development and implementation of plans and programs to respond to these opportunities.
- Responsible for the flow of commercial loans throughout application and approval phase of credit, this includes all processing channels. Directs the closing of loan and oversees the servicing of the loan to ensure the bank complies with all legal regulatory requirements.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with commercial bankers throughout Stearns Bank to assist them in the identification and initiation of sales opportunities to customers by providing access to the full range of commercial loan products and services.
- Coordinate and present seminars to Stearns Bankers and/or customers in an effort to continually promote the knowledge and use of commercial loan programs and their benefits to both the bank and borrower.
- Effectively use bank systems and other technology to the fullest extent of their capabilities to include lead tracking, opportunities, file notes, underwriting, processing, closings, and servicing workflows.
- Loss prevention and security as applicable for this position.
- Maintain a solid understanding of all legal and regulatory compliance issues as they pertain to this position.
- Perform other duties as the need arises for the efficient operations of the department and organization.
- Complete required training.
REQUIREMENTS
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
- Literacy in English.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time, twist, bend, sit, walk use hands to twist, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, such as computer mouse, computer keyboard, calculator, stapler, telephone, staple puller, etc., reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, talk, or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred but will consider commensurate experience.
- Minimum of 5 years commercial lending experience. Commercial experience preferred.
- Outstanding business development, relationship building, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexible and able to multi-task. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills.
- Strong digital literacy.
