Summary:

The Assistant Vice President/Senior Claim Manager will manage directors/managers/supervisors responsible for leading a wide variety of Liability, VPD, Litigation, Occupational Accident, Property, Cannabis, Trucking, NTL adjusters, including Collision, Comp, Total Losses, Salvage, Operations and Subrogation. Primary responsibilities include managing and supervising first line leadership to established claim procedures, processes, including best practices and KPIs; as well as managing daily workflow and handling of all claims within the units.

The Assistant Vice President/Senior Manager must be able to facilitate a culture that values, supports and rewards innovative thinking and ongoing analysis of operations to improve effectiveness. Assist in the training of existing and new claims representatives; and assist in the performance of quarterly and annual claims staff performance evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage teams to ensure performance metrics, best practices and KPIs set by the company are met or exceeded on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Meet or exceed all key performance indicators and internal/external audits.
  • Appropriately manage loss cost and allocated loss adjustment expenses.
  • Manage a high level of employee engagement as evidenced by key employee retention, and feedback,
  • Timely recognize outstanding performance via available incentive programs.
  • Provide direction, leadership and training to the leadership team, claim adjusters and staff.
  • Provide necessary direction and oversight to claims staff regarding coverage, investigations and evaluations on all claim files within the units.
  • Provide direction and oversight regarding claim resolution strategies.
  • Manage total losses and salvage claims pursuant to established company procedures and processes.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly claim adjuster meetings.
  • Perform monthly claim file audits as per company’ directives.
  • Complete quarterly and annual reviews/evaluations for claims adjusters.
  • Provide reserve and settlement authority to the claim adjusters pursuant to the company’s established guidelines or procedures.
  • Attend regularly scheduled management meetings as required.
  • Embed the importance of the customer experience throughout the organization.  

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in various senior claims management meetings.
  • Coordinate monthly underwriting/claims meetings as requested.
  • Maintain and utilize the Hallmark Vendor databases and Guidelines.
  • Maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses; and maintain annual required CE credits.
  • Complete large loss reports, as required.
  • Undertaking of general office administrative duties as required.

  • Ability to be able to review processes and determine opportunities for improvement.
  • The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize.

Supervision:

  • Effectively and efficiently manage and claims adjusting staff in the claim organization. Carry out Assistant Vice President/Senior Claim Manager responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. The responsibilities will include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, mentoring and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8-10 years related experience and/or training managing automobile liability and Commercial Auto claims.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or University, or equivalent experience in Material Damage and Total Loss claims.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent MS Office, Word, Power Point, and Excel expertise.

Disclosure required under applicable state or municipality regulations: The expected salary range for this position is $130,000 to $140,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
