THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a passionate General Practitioner (GP) or Occupational Physician seeking a fresh challenge in a dynamic corporate setting? This role is perfect for you! As part of our diverse team based in Sydney, you can expand your unique skillset to a whole new environment!

As a Clinical Advisor – Medical, you'll provide expert medical advice to improve the management of injured workers. Your role is to facilitate injured workers' return to work and recovery, aligning with regulations while minimise risks and time off work. You'll enhance decision-making, optimise treatment plans, assist in clinical decision-making, and boost the claims team's capabilities.

This will be a permanent, part time position (2-3 days per week) based in our Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home 1 day per week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimise medical management processes and outcomes for the Specialised Insurance Group.
  • Conduct peer-to-peer discussions early in the claims process to discuss health benefits of RTW (Return-to-Work) and encourage acceptance of case manager into Medical Case Conferences to facilitate RTW.
  • Conduct file reviews and provide clinical opinion on the medical strategy: review medical records, treatment requests, diagnostic tests, and other relevant information to assess the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and RTW plan.
  • Negotiate with treating providers regarding medical management and treatment options as well as upgrades in capacity for injured workers.
  • Provide group wide training, and individual coaching to case managers through strategic reviews and call coaching to support optimal medical management and support capability uplift.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., medicine)
  • Current registration as Occupational Physician or General Practitioner
  • Demonstrated at least 3 years clinical experience in either occupational health or workers compensation.
  • Well established knowledge of disability and injury management.
  • Comprehensive understanding and demonstrated experience working in the personal injury industry, ideally with experience with the workers compensation insurance and legislation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
