VAST Data is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to drive the Data Protection Use Case across much of the West Region. This is a quota-carrying role that focuses on delivering value and achieving desired outcomes for our customers and partners. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in Data Protection, demonstrating an acute understanding of the current Data Protection landscape and Cyber Resilience needs. This position offers the unique opportunity to partner with a dedicated data protection sales professional and support approximately 15 sales teams across multiple states.

Responsibilities:

• Drive the Data Protection Use Case across the West Region for VAST Data.
• Deliver value and achieve desired outcomes for customers and partners in collaboration with a dedicated data protection sales professional.
• Support ~15 sales teams across multiple states, requiring travel 50% of the time.
• Utilize expertise in Data Protection to guide customers and partners, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
• Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of Source Data Movers (e.g., Veritas, Veeam, Commvault, Spectrum Protect, Rubrik, Cohesity) and Data Protection Targets (e.g., PBBAs, Flash Systems, Cloud, Object).
• Lead through influence within a larger team, working effectively with colleagues to achieve common goals.
• Create compelling written proposals and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analyses for customers.
• Utilize keen business acumen and competitive selling strategies to outmaneuver competitors and secure business.
• Deliver strong in-person presentations, showcasing the value of VAST Data’s solutions to potential clients.

Requirements

• Location: West Coast, USA (Must live in close proximity to a major airport and in one of the West Coast’s IT Hubs)
• Must possess Data Protection subject matter expertise.
• Required: At least ten years of field engineering experience with a proven track record of overachievement.
• Deep knowledge of the Data Protection landscape and Cyber Resilience needs.
• Experience with Source Data Movers (e.g., Veritas, Veeam, Commvault, Spectrum Protect, Rubrik, Cohesity) and Data Protection Targets (e.g., PBBAs, Flash Systems, Cloud, Object).
• Strong ability to work with and lead through influence within a larger team.
• Excellent written communication skills, with experience in creating proposals and TCO analyses.
• Exceptional business acumen, competitive selling skills, and the ability to reverse engineer architectures to meet customer needs.
• Outstanding presentation skills, with the ability to engage and persuade potential clients in person.
