Job description

We're solving EDI

At Stedi, we’re rebuilding the technological backbone of the B2B economy. Trillions of dollars flow annually through a global network of commerce via an archaic protocol called Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), but there hasn’t been a major new EDI platform in decades.

In the healthcare sector, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires that all insurance carriers exchange transactions such as claims, eligibility checks, prior authorizations, and enrollments using a standardized EDI format called X12 HIPAA. A small group of legacy clearinghouses process the majority of these transactions, offering consolidated connectivity to carriers and providers.

Stedi is building the world’s only API-first clearinghouse. By offering modern API interfaces alongside traditional real-time and batch EDI processes, we enable both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange mission-critical transactions.

Stedi has lightning in a bottle: engineers and designers shipping products week in and week out; a lean business team supporting the company’s infrastructure; passion for automation and eliminating toil; $90 million in funding from top investors like Stripe, Addition, USV, Bloomberg Beta, First Round Capital, and more.

What we’re looking for

Stedi is the world’s only API-first clearinghouse. By offering a modern API interface for running eligibility checks, processing claims, and ingesting ERAs, healthcare technology businesses can exchange transactions with payers without dealing with the EDI protocol or carrier-specific connectivity.

As we continue to scale, we are looking for an experienced product designer who can own the look, feel, and polish for the UI of our new healthcare products. We work in a highly technical space — it’s full of detail, interesting interaction problems, and knotty user experience challenges. If you’re passionate about healthcare and mastering the design of complex systems, we’d love to hear from you.

What you'll do
  • Lead the end-to-end design work, from conception to delivery, for various products on the Stedi platform

  • Work collaboratively with engineers and our customer team to identify and solve user, product, and business problems

  • Help define strategy — understanding and articulating the product’s goals, success metrics, roadmap, and commitments

  • Deliver high-quality, polished, delightful, and easy-to-use designs

  • Design and prototype multiple ideas quickly and connect regularly with customers to validate product directions

Who you are
  • 4+ years of design experience at a product-driven tech company

  • Frontend development experience with React, Next.js and HTML/CSS is a plus

  • Subject matter expert in design for revenue-cycle management, billing, or similarly complex backend software projects such as developer tools, fintech systems, process management, or others

  • Have good practical knowledge of end-to-end product design — from user research through high-fidelity design and coding as necessary

  • Comfortable working with engineering, design, and business teams

  • A great juggler of creative optimism and critical investigation

  • Comfortable building iteratively to gather feedback

At Stedi, we're looking for people who are deeply curious and aligned to our ways of working. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly match the job description.
