Job Overview:

As a Data Engineer at Tactacam, you will be at the forefront of our data-driven initiatives, playing a crucial role in managing and harnessing the vast amounts of data we collect. This position offers a unique opportunity for control, growth, and self-sufficiency, as you will be the sole data engineer responsible for weaving together data sources, facilitating data mining projects, and building data repositories for the entire organization. Your work will empower cross-functional teams, with marketing and customer service relying on your expertise to access and utilize valuable data. Responsibilities:

  • Data Integration: Seamlessly integrate data from various sources, ensuring efficient data ingestion, recording, and trackability for a wide range of projects. Seamlessly integrate data from various sources, ensuring efficient data.
  • Data Warehousing: Manage our data warehousing infrastructure, particularly RedShift, to organize and query data efficiently, akin to SQL.
  • Queuing Systems: Implement and maintain queuing systems such as Kafka, SQS, Rabbit MQ, or Stitch to enable data flow and processing.
  • Big Data Mining: Lead and participate in large-scale data mining projects, extracting valuable insights from the wealth of data at our fingertips.
  • Data Repository Development: Build and maintain data repositories that serve as a central hub for the organization, allowing various teams to access critical data resources.
  • Customer-Centric Data: Collaborate closely with marketing and customer service teams to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Effective Communication: Ensure clear and effective communication with cross-functional teams, translating their data requirements into actionable solutions.

 

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience with Object-Side Language. Proficiency in data processing languages, with a preference for JavaScript and Python, to enable seamless data integration.
  • Resourceful: A self-driven and resourceful individual who thrives in an environment where they can take ownership of data-related projects.
  • Amazon CDK, Lambda and continuous integration through GitHub.
  • Data Warehousing: Experience with data warehousing, particularly RedShift or similar technologies, and a strong understanding of SQL.
  • Big Data: Comfortable working with and extracting insights from large volumes of data. An innate passion for data and its potential to drive business decisions.
  • Queuing Systems: Familiarity with queuing systems such as Kafka, SQS, Rabbit MQ, or Stitch for data flow management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, with a focus on marketing and customer service as primary customers.
  • Experience with reporting tools like Google Looker.
