Summary of Job Duties:
UACCM offers underground horizontal directional drilling (HDD) training to prepare new drillers for employment opportunities. This position will be responsible for preparing students for careers by providing theory instruction and hands-on skills training. The HDD Instructor works under the supervision of the Director of Workforce Development and Community Education. Trainings taught will be for three to four weeks at 40 hours a week, offered four to six times a year.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop, prepare, and facilitate trainings as assigned.
• Provide hands-on, real-world scenario training to students for skills development.
• Maintain student files, records, grades, attendance, and other as required in compliance with
UACCM policies, processes, and standards.
• Work with industry to ensure program provided meets industry standards and expectations.
• Evaluate and provide feedback to students throughout the program.
• Evaluate and maintain program equipment.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education equivalent to a High School diploma
A minimum of seven years practical work experience in horizontal drilling
Practical work experience using single and dual joystick controls

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Considerable knowledge of directional drilling procedures and safety.
• Considerable knowledge of equipment (drillers, mini-excavator, plow, etc.)
• Possesses exceptional directional drilling skills and knowledge and can provide practical equipment demonstrations to students
• Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds
• Ability to multi task and be flexible, patient, and exhibit a helpful and professional attitude to students
• Ability to maintain training and student records accurately maintain and in an organized manner
• Able to work cooperatively with a diverse student, employee, and community population.
$35 per hour
