Sr DevOps Engineer I – Job Description
The Senior DevOps Engineer I role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining infrastructure and automation within Azure Cloud environments. The position requires expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and Azure-native solutions. This role emphasizes leadership, technical expertise in Azure, and collaboration across various teams, providing significant opportunities for both independent and team-driven work.
Responsibilities:
- Lead in designing, testing, and deploying highly scalable and available Azure Cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) infrastructure.
- Manage and maintain the Azure DevOps environment, including all components.
- Act as the technical subject matter expert for software releases and infrastructure setup.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for application configurations, processes and procedures to ensure timely deployments, smooth operations, and quick resolution to potential issues
- Develop and optimize IaC pipelines and practices, using CI/CD (Azure DevOps) and Terraform.
- Provide technical escalation support and collaborate with development, QA, and product teams.
- Participate in software releases and deployments while contributing to operational process improvement.
- Mentor and educate team members on IaC, containerization, and CI/CD.
- Innovate on improving product delivery and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 5+ years of experience with IaC tools like Terraform.
- 5+ years of experience designing and building platforms in Azure Cloud or similar cloud environments.
- 5+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, especially Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- 5+ years of experience in designing DevOps build guides
- 5+ years of experience in container technologies like Docker or Kubernetes
- 3+ year of experience in leading projects from conception to fruition
- Expert knowledge of Azure infrastructure for proficient troubleshooting abilities
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure PaaS services (SQL, App Services, Container Apps, etc.).
- Experience with Azure AD, IAM, RBAC, and encryption tools.
- Knowledge of Azure monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, App Insights, Log Analytics).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
