Job description

Description

Scopely is looking for an Economy Designer to serve on and elevate an exciting game currently in development on a remote basis.
At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play, every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues, or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.
What You'll Do
If you’re passionate about system and economy design, this role has it all. You will closely collaborate with our Design, Product and Economy leads to assess, balance, test and implement the economy for the entire life cycle of the game–from pre-production to live operation and beyond.
  • Work hand in hand with the Senior Economy Designer, Product and LiveOps team to balance and maintain the game economy
  • Deeply understand players' needs and motivations to inform economy decisions
  • Keep a player-first mentality, ensuring the economics meet the player’s needs, while being mindful of the franchise strategy and the business goals
  • Produce and update game and economy documentation that contains the right level of detail while staying concise and easy to understand for the whole team
  • Follow the most recent market trends and best practices to create the best possible economy solutions
  • Work closely with designers across a variety of tasks to account for content and economic requirements of features in development
  • Collaborate and maintain relationships with all teams and stakeholders to deliver economic requirements for each
  • Iterate using player and team feedback to optimize for simplicity, comprehension, and function
  • Analyze, balance and tune with consideration to segmentation, the player journey, and mastery cycle
  • Implement theoretical work and evaluate existing work for longevity, balance and optimization
What We're Looking For
  • Experience working as an economy or systems designer, or in a role that required mathematics in daily work output
  • Expert understanding of CCRPGs and their specific motivations and needs
  • Ability to work well within an international and multicultural, dynamic, cross-discipline, and iterative team environment
  • Self-motivated and collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive and collaborative, with an ability to receive and provide objective, useful feedback
  • Awareness of current trends in mobile games
  • Ability to develop and communicate complex economic models to stakeholders and team members
  • Experience with user centric design / brainstorms
  • A consistent record of balancing, tuning, or creating impactful features on a live game
  • Experience designing and extracting learnings from A/B tests
  • Self-motivated and proactive, unfazed by challenges or the need to rework and revisit established ideas
  • Enthusiasm for spreadsheets, data, and crunching numbers
  • Strong communications skills, both in-person and remotely
Bonus Points
  • Passion for sports entertainment
  • Experience as a Product Manager, or mathematician
  • Experience or willingness to work across time zones with occasional travel to the UK
For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $88,500 - $130,00, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
