Job description

Job Summary

Assistant Regulatory Compliance Manager is responsible for implementing a trade compliance program allows for identifying risks, and preventing and mitigating damages related to the customs laws of countries where the company operates at APJ. This position will lead and manage all aspects of import compliance activities. He/she will maintain an active role in assuring compliance of import activities in the company owned subsidiaries and offices in APJ.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage/ addresses day to day escalations related to import activities from customs brokers, sales operations, shared services, logistics operations and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper valuation for import declarations.
  • Identifying, prioritizing, and addressing trade compliance risk and Customs compliance risk.
  • Oversee & manage customs brokerage activity, conduct QBR meetings, analyze KPI reporting.
  • Preparing, implementing, and monitoring APJ Trade License program (primarily import).
  • Prepare and present relevant data analytics to support decision making.
  • Communicating and meeting with relevant Government authorities if needed. 
  • Collaboratively work with internal teams on timeliness & accuracy of customs related master data.
  • Develop & maintain customs/ trade SOP for internal and external business partners.
  • Monitor regulatory laws of the region for developments or changes that impact to the company, communicate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage audits (customs & internal), identify issues, report findings, develop actions for resolution.
  • Improve and develop effective import processes and controls, drive trade compliance solutions that maximize efficiency.
  • Backup other APJ Trade Compliance activities, if required.

Education/ Skills:

  • University Degree or equivalent in International Trade, Business, Logistics or Law. Optional for candidates who has more relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customs imports procedures and regulations at India, APJ is a plus.  
  • Good knowledge on valuation ruling, including but not limited to intangible vs tangible tech. products declarations.
  • Compliance risk analysis. Able to identify and address potential risk at trade compliance.
  • High level of independent thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Project and change management.
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft office applications etc.).
  • Able to converse and write effectively in English. Able to speak/ read in second language with Asia Pacific is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Able to recognize and attend to important details with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Able to constructively work under stress and pressure when faced with high workloads and deadlines.
  • Able to build solid, effective working relationships with others.
  • Investigative skills in managing trade compliance, as needed.
  • Operates without supervision within established guidelines.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in trade compliance & import / export operations.
  • Experience on Technology sector.
  • Relevant knowledge & experience with Regulatory Requirements/ standards, as applied to import/ export, internal controls etc.
  • Hands on experience on the trade license program at India e.g. CHIMS/ SCOMET, Or other APJ countries (is a plus) like (Vietnam Crypto, Cyber & Type approval, Indonesia – SDPPI, Import Quota, Malaysia SIRIM, Hong Kong TID etc.)
  • Good technical and practical knowledge in customs and import regulations.
  • Knowledge of APJ Import and Export regulations
  • Knowledge of US Export Administration Regulation is a plus
