Job Description

Compose.ly has partnered as an exclusive recruiter with a growing fintech solutions provider seeking a seasoned Senior Technical Writer for developer audiences to work alongside their in-house team and other internal stakeholders in a full-time capacity. This role will be filled on a temporary basis with the possibility of extending the contract.

This role is for you if you…
  • Have proven experience working with software engineering teams and other internal stakeholders to write superior API and SDK documentation.
  • Prioritize the user and their needs in your documentation, always conveying the bigger picture to ensure cohesion among topics.
  • Excel at explaining complex technical information in understandable, friendly, and relatable ways.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of key terminology in one or more programming languages.
  • Know how to meet deadlines, track your work, and get the answers you need to meet aggressive deadlines consistently.
  • Communicate and collaborate professionally and efficiently with a geographically distributed team.
Responsibilities
  • Keeping pace with product development teams and adhering to style guidance and examples to produce industry-leading API and programming content.
  • Collaborate closely with product engineering, product management, integration teams, and other internal stakeholders to write API documentation and programming guides.
Required skills and qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (ideally in English, technical communications, computer science, or a similar field)
  • 3+ years of experience as a technical writer for a developer audience at an Agile software company
  • Proven experience writing detailed, user-centered API and programming documentation in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding ability to grasp and communicate interrelationships between topics clearly and meaningfully and to present hierarchical information in a logical and consistent manner
  • Advocating for user needs and backing your opinions with experience and facts
  • Experience with Markdown or another markup language, like HTML, and Swagger
  • One or more programming languages (Java, Go, Python, Typescript) and OpenAPI
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple focus areas and tasks
  • Faithfully adhering to documented standards and styles
  • Enthusiasm for cross-functional collaboration with people at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work in US time zones (ideally Central Standard Time)
  • A strong writing portfolio to demonstrate some or all of these skills
