Job description

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced IT Support Consultant for ad-hoc assistance in managing and optimizing our Microsoft SQL services and Azure Active Directory B2C integration. The ideal candidate will provide on-demand support for database management, query optimization, best practices, and system recovery, as well as help with Azure Active Directory B2C integration with our tenant and Jira.

Key Responsibilities:
MS SQL and Associated Services:

  1. SQL Server Maintenance & Support:

    • Provide support for the administration and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server environments.
    • Manage backup, recovery, and updates to ensure consistent and reliable service delivery.

  2. Reporting Services:

    • Assist with setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of SQL Reporting Services (SSRS).
    • Optimize reporting tools to deliver accurate and timely data insights.

  3. Query Formation & Optimization:

    • Develop, review, and optimize SQL queries for efficiency and performance.
    • Assist in creating complex queries, ensuring they follow best practices to minimize load times and resource usage.

  4. Best Practices Advisory:

    • Offer guidance on SQL Server best practices, including performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and security.
    • Provide recommendations for database design and architecture improvements.

  5. System Down/Recovery Assistance:

    • Provide immediate support in case of database outages or system downtime.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly to restore services and minimize disruptions.
Azure Active Directory B2C:

  1. Azure AD B2C Integration:

    • Assist with the integration of Azure Active Directory B2C with our tenant and Jira.
    • Provide guidance on identity management, multi-factor authentication, and user experience optimization.

  2. Configuration & Best Practices:

    • Ensure that Azure AD B2C is configured following security and operational best practices.
    • Offer strategic input for improving identity management and enhancing seamless integrations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), and query optimization.
  • Strong understanding of Azure Active Directory B2C, including integration with third-party systems like Jira.
  • Experience troubleshooting database and Active Directory issues, with a focus on rapid problem resolution.
  • Familiarity with database performance tuning, security measures, and general IT best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and respond to urgent support requests on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience with MS SQL administration and Azure AD B2C implementation and management.
  • Experience with Jira integration is highly preferred.
  • Certifications in Microsoft SQL, Azure, or Azure AD are a plus.
