Breast Oncologist – Clinical Faculty

RUSH University Medical Center

Chicago, IL

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution, and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Breast Oncologist.

The Division of Hematology, Oncology and Cell Therapy in the Department of Medicine at Rush University Medical Center is recruiting an Oncologist or a Hematologist/Oncologist to join its breast medical oncology faculty at the assistant, associate, or professor level. The successful candidate will be board certified in medical oncology or hematology/oncology and has demonstrated interest and academic productivity in a field of breast oncology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a growing multi-disciplinary breast oncology program, participate in our large portfolio of clinical trials, and develop investigator-initiated trials. The predominant criteria include: a major commitment to research and scholarly activity that advances the field of medicine, teaching, excellence in clinical care, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Candidates will have the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams, including breast surgery, radiation oncology and breast imaging. Over the past decade, the RUSH breast imaging team has differentiated itself as a pacesetter in the Chicago region. The Regenstein Breast Imaging Center’s personalized breast cancer screening program is making a national imprint on the field in this area. Our multidisciplinary research team is utilizing data from the personalized breast cancer screening program to publish important findings that are informing breast imaging practice and research far beyond RUSH.

Our new, state-of-the-art Cancer Center facility in Chicago serves as a hub for services throughout our health system. Our core programs are supported by multi-disciplinary teams from medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, research and bioinformatics, clinical operations, and dedicated clinical and support staff, including patient navigators. This structure allows specialists to more easily consult and see patients based on tumor type or molecular and genomic signatures, combining our outstanding multidisciplinary approach with a data infrastructure that supports this patient-centered care. This integration enables us to make a greater commitment to research, dramatically scaling the effectiveness of clinical trials, and enabling translational research that moves bench to bedside, and bedside to bench.
